‘A Sense of Community’ dedicated to Charlie Hurley

November 7, 2018

A terrific moment from Drogheda United’s 2012 season has been captured on canvas by local artist Anne Matthews.

The painting, dedicated to Club President Charlie Hurley who passed away earlier this year, is Anne’s contribution to a local art exhibition entitled ‘A Sense of Community’. The exhibition consists of oil paintings on the theme of ‘recognising 12 community / voluntary organisations through canvas’.

A good friend of the Hurley family Anne, who hails from Donore, Co. Meath, was delighted to be able to commemorate Charlie in such an iconic way.

The exhibition will open in the Laurence Shopping Centre, in Drogheda on Saturday Dec 15th. More venues are planned over the coming months. A calendar featuring all twelve works is available at a cost of €10, with a share of the proceeds going to charity. Anne also hopes that the painting itself will be used to raise funds for charity once the exhibition ends.
