Ag Éisteacht Programme

November 8, 2018

Edenderrry GAA has recently received a letter inviting the Club to participate in the Ag Éisteach programme that was announced by GAA President Criostóir Ó Cuana at the Annual Congress in April, and he hopes to visit our club on the night of Wednesday July 22.

The purpose of the Ag Éisteacht programme is to provide Club members with access to the senior officers of the Association so that they can share their opinions, hopes and aspirations on any area or aspect of the association, with the leadership of CLG.

During his Presidency it is planned that Criostóir along with the Ard Stiúrthóir Páraic Ó Dufaigh will visit over 40 Clubs per annum to listen to the views and opinions of Club members on strategic issues but also those relating to how the games are to be promoted and run within our clubs and counties. Already visits have been made to Fingallians and Naomh Olaf in Dublin, Scariff in Clare, Eadestown in Kildare, Slane in Meath and Crossmaglen in Armagh.

The objective of the exercise is for Criostóir and Páraic to listen and learn from our club members, to understand their views, perceptions and opinions. This will in turn allow the leadership of the Association to be kept informed of the priorities and needs of the club at a local level to ensure they are factored into the review of our Strategic Vision and Action Plan 2009-2015 and the further development of future national strategies.

The meeting, which will be held at your club, will start at 8.00pm taking less than two hours in duration and ideally should involve no more than 20 club members.

In order to ensure that we have a representative cross section of the Club, the following mix of club members from the club has been suggested:

– The Club’s Executive Committee;
– Four Players – footballers/hurlers (Two U25/Two over);
– Two coaches;
– Two female Members;
– One parent of an underage person;
– Primary school teacher;
– One member 70 years of age or better
