We were beaten by Dunmore McHale’s in Tuam on Sunday in the Junior C football Championship by one point 1-8 to 1-9. it was all square at half time seven points each withGer Rafftery having opened our scoring with a point after three minutes and Tom Forde adding our second nine minutes later. Rafftery adding another six minutes later to leave it all square mid way through the half at three points each. Ronan Newell edged us a point ahead on twenty three minutes and the impressive Rafftery had our next three points before the break. Dunmore had the first two scores of the second half a point after on two minutes and a very soft goal four minutes later when our backs were slow to deal with a breaking ball and the winners shot into an empty net. A Tom Forde point two minutes later closed the gap to goal and Ger Rafftery goaled five minutes later to make it all square but the winners went a point up a minute later it what was the last score of the game. It was a game we could have won or at least drawn as we were wide from a close in free in injury time and we wasteful in the first half in front of goal shooting wide after wide. Our team was:- Gerry Cahill, Pa Burke, Paul Curran, Niall Greaney, Shane Hession, Michael Curry, Vician Silke, Fergal Coleman, Ronan Curry, Tom Forde, Ronan Newell, Ger Rafftery, Damien Jordan, Kieran Mitchell, John Killilea.
We play Monivea Abbey this evening (Wednesday) in the Minor football championship in Corofin at 7.00pm. We beat Mountbellew last week by 1-11 to 1-7 in a game that our scorers were Stephen Kerr 0-4, Ciaran Duggan 1-1, Edna Mullarkey 0-3, Joseph Farragher 0-2 and Christopher Grean (0-1). The U-8 footballers play Claregalway on Sunday and the bus leaves Cregg at 10.15am and all players are asked to return the Forecasts card.
Our ticket allocation for the All Football final will be distributed to members on Wednesday Sept 12 at 8.30 before our monthly meeting, Application for tickets in writing to our secretary Noel Kinneen Mace Corrandulla by Sept 7.
This weeks Lotto winning numbers are 1, 4,5 & 23 and we had no jackpot winner. There were three match 3’s: Patrick Newell Barana, Sile Melia Gortroe and Delia Canavan Carraghy. P J Scully won the Promoters prize and next weeks draw in on Monday evening in the Club House for a  8350 jackpot
Our under-16 hurlers play Kilbeacanty on Thursday evening in Ballindereen at 6.30 please support.
Ladies Football
Annaghdown Ladies Senior team play the Championship Semi-Final next Monday evening Sept. 3rd. against Killanin in the Prarie, Salthill at 7pm I have no doubt that their will be big support from the Annaghdown followers!

Our U10’s play Corofin in Cregg on Friday evening 31st August at 7pm

The U12’s have progressed to the next round in their championship when they received a walkover from Salthill ‘B’. Training continues in Cregg on Thursday evening at 7pm, with the possibility of a challenge match over the weekend – more details at training.

Training for the U-14 continues this evening at 6.30pm as the Championship is due to commence shortly and a full attendance is expected 16’s have progressed to the championship Semi-Finals when they received a walkover from Killanin.
