At last, some football!

November 8, 2018

The Minors opened their season on Saturday last (15th) away to Castlerahan.  With the home side one of the more fancied teams this year, a tough battle was envisaged and unfortunately our lads were second best throughout the encounter and ended up on the wrong side of a 3-11 to 0-7 scoreline.

However it’s still early days, and hopes are high and with a few more training sessions under their belts that the lads can yet turn things around and enjoy a decent season.

The following day the Seniors had their first outing with a trip to Donaghmoyne for a friendly against the Monaghan side.  Despite not being the most enjoyable place to go following the debacle in Breffni the previous evening, a strong panel of 25 turned up to brave the elements and the undoubted slagging.

An impressive opening half saw the Stars lead by five points at half time.  To enable a run out for everyone, a host of changes were made at halftime, and well the result was not the main thing more a chance for everyone to get some gametime under their belt (yeah, that means we lost!!)

However, it’s all about gametime at this stage and this Friday (29th) at 8pm sees the seniors head to Castleblayney for another challenge match ahead of next month’s league start
