Aughawillan Club Notes

November 7, 2018

Drumreilly (combined Aughawillan Drumreilly U-14) became the first Leitrim team to win a Feile competition when they overcame Eire Og (Roscommon) in the division 6 final on Sunday morning. Congratulations to all involved.
Ticket sales for the Park Development Summer draw are underway. €10 tickets have been distributed to players, officials and supporters. Already there is good feedback and a number of sellers have already sold their quota and are on their second lot. It is expected everyone will row in behind this fundraising drive and all support will obviously be very welcome. The draw is being run over the summer months from July to September 1st. Construction of the new dressing rooms is due to start at the end of August.
Training continues at home & Dublin on Tuesday with combined training on Thursday. There are no games for the club at Junior or Senior this weekend.
This weekend’s Lotto Draw was held in Drumcoura instead of Gorby’s. There was no jackpot winner. Winners of 7 x €20 prizes were: Aiden Darcy Bawnboy, Colin Denneny Drumreilly, Kevin Kellegher Boley, Óisín Connefrey Garadice, Terry Fitzpatrick Bawnboy, John Connolly Doogarry & Hugh Joseph Maguire Drumreily. The new Jackpot is €3700 and the next draw is on Saturday July 14 in Shortts Ballinamore.
The All Ireland Feile, which was hosted by Leitrim Clubs all over last weekend, was a resounding success. Our club hosted St. Valentine’s Girls team from outside Macroom in Co. Cork. On Friday afternoon there were two opening games in the club grounds: Drumreilly boys v Easkey from Co Sligo and Aughawillan Girls v St Valentine’s. Following the games Shiela Kiernan Catering Bawnboy provided both teams and supporters with hot food. On Saturday night a disco and presentation was made to the visiting teams in Drumlae Community Centre. Great credit is due to all involved in organising this huge undertaking both at club and county level. In particular we would like to thank our own club co-ordinators Damien and Sinéad. The club grounds looked splendid and were beautifully set off with welcoming signs and buntings. It was a great advertisement for our club and our county and all our visiting teams were very impressed.
Leitrim take on Donegal in a first round qualifier at 7pm in Carrick on Saturday evening.
This is a difficult assignment against the National League Champions but one, which you feel, is there for the taking. We wish Barry and his colleagues good luck and look forward to what should be a very entertaining game. Ticket are only required for the new stand with entry to all other areas of the ground by payment at the gate. The club will receive their allocation of stand tickets later in the week.
