UNDER 16 HURLING FINAL:  Ballina met Carrick Swans in the County Final in Littleton on Saturday afternoon last.   The game was played under ideal weather conditions and a pristine pitch.   Playing with a strong breeze, Ballina started strongly and were first to score through Mike Breen.  Both teams were evenly matched until Carrick’s two quick goals mid way through the first half.  Ballina fought back to leave a half time score of 2-2 to 0-5.   Ballina faced the strong breeze in the second half but still managed the first 3 scores of the half.   These were followed by a Mike Breen goal to level the scores but Carrick immediately replied with another goal from their full forward, Bill Barrett.   From here out, Carrick pushed forward and finished 6 points winners.  Congratulations to all who were involved with this gallant team.
CONGRATULATIONS:  Well done to Peter King who was part of the Monaleen Team which won the Limerick Senior county football last weekend.  Peter was captain of the Ballina Junior Football team which defeated Fethard in the 2004 Tipperary County Final.
