Ballina GAA and Parish Lotto Build Up: As you know, our Jackpot figure now stands at €11,400. A Build Up Jackpot is now underway and presently stands at €3,400. As long as the main Jackpot is not won, each Jackpot figure will receive the €200 bonus every second week.
Under 16 Hurlers: Congratulations go to the Under 16 Hurlers who continued on their winning ways by defeating Sean Treacy’s/Emly in the County Semi-Final in Kilcoleman last Saturday on a final score line 3-9 to 1-10. This was a splendid team effort from start to finish. With a lead of 2-2 to 1-3 at half time, Ballina had to withstand a strong resurgance from the opposition who managed to take a two point lead 10 minutes into the second half. Some shrewd switches by the selectors managed to get the Ballina team back on track. A goal from Mike Breen mid-way through the second half, his second of the day was to pave the way for their 5 point victory. Ballina now play Carrick Davins in the County Final next weekend.
Squash Club: The Squash Club is taking membership for the 2010/2011 season. Squash is the ideal
game for maintaining fitness over the winter period. Details can be obtained from John Healy.
Timber Auction: Preparation for the Timber Auction continues next Saturday. Anyone wishing to contribute timber or who are willing to give time cutting or splitting wood, please contact Club Sec. John Gleeson as soon as possible. It is hoped to hold Auction in late November.
Fridays in Ballina: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 10.30am to 5pm. Midday Prayer of the Church and Benediction at 1.05pm. Why not come along and pray awhile with us?
Ballina/Boher Altar Servers: Currently there are new Altar Servers being trained. We welcome them onto our Parish team and we sincerely thank our former servers who now have moved to second level education.
Painting of Our Lady and St. Lua Church, Ballina: The painting of the inside of Ballina Church is now completed. Thanks to all involved in the work and to our parishioners who at times were inconvenienced while work was in progress.
Enrolment for the Sacraments: Confirmation Enrolment for Ballina and Boher is on Saturday, October 16th in Ballina Church at 6.30pm. First Penance and Holy Communion Enrolment for Ballina School is on October 17th in Ballina Church at 11.30am. First Penance and Holy Communion Enrolment for Boher School is on November 14th at 10.30am in Boher Church.
