First Holy Communion: Thirteen children in Boher Primary School received First Holy Communion last weekend. Thanks to all concerned who have assisted in the preparation of the children for these special days in Boher and Ballina Primary Schools.
Friday Chruch Services in Ballina: After 10am Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed until 5pm. Prayer of the Church and Benediction at 1.05pm. Why not come along and pray awhile with us?
Ballina Church Graveyard: Thanks to Slawek and your co-operation, our graveyard is looking very well at present. Can I remind families that potted plants and wreaths should be placed within eighteen inches of the headstone. Planting of flowers and shrubs the full length of the grave is not allowed as this interferes with the grass cutting in the graveyard and slows down the whole process of maintenance. It takes nineteen hours to cut, strim and remove all grass every two weeks. Sincerest thanks to the Confirmation Class who care for the flower beds in the graveyard as part of their program for receiving this sacrament.
Missionary Appeal: Sr. Leonie Callaghan of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa will speak at all Masses in Ballina and Boher on June 25th/26th. Your support would be very much appreciated.
Ballina Club Hurlers: The Intermediate and Junior A teams were in action last weekend, with the intermediates playing Ballinahinch in the County League on Friday evening. Despite missing 7 regulars, they managed to overcome our local rivals and had 6 points to spare at the end. Feature of the game was the accuracy of free taker, David Hickey who contributed almost half of our final score. The Junior A Hurlers had a comfortable victory over Borrisoleigh in Ballinahinch on Saturday evening. They showed great determination from start to finish and with a great team effort they got the perfect start to the championship with a final score of Ballina 2-15 to Borrisoleigh’s 1-9.
Club Fundraising Raffle: Three sets of All Ireland Final tickets will be raffled at the end of August with each set including a one night’s stay in Dublin. For just €2 you could find yourself in Croke
Park at either the Hurling, Football or Camogie All Ireland Finals. Tickets can be purchased from any officer of the club.
Feile Brian Boru: The Feile Brian Boru will be held on the first weekend of July. Two events will be organised involving the Ballina G.A.A. Club. Firstly, King Puck which will involve hitting the ball across the Shannon. The longest puck wins. This will be held on Friday evening – weather permitting. Secondly a Mystery event will be held in the Ballina GAA Field on the Sunday of the festival. Great fun is guaranteed on both these occasions.
