Ballina/Boher Parish and GAA Notes

Recently Baptised:  We welcome into God’s family: Gabriell Princess O’Reilly, daughter of Pearl, Lakeside, Ballina who was baptized recently.

Recently Deceased:   We remember in our prayers Fr. Jim Foley, C.C. Tipperary who died recently.

First Holy Communion:   This weekend, the second half of Ballina P.S. children will receive First Holy Communion.  The children in Boher Primary School will receive on June 12th at 10.30am.  Thanks to all concerned who have assisted in the preparation for these great day.

Friday Chruch Services in Ballina:   After 10am Mass, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed until 5pm.  Prayer of the Church and Benediction at 1.05pm.  Why not come along and pray awhile with us?

Phones for Defibrillator:   Sincerest thanks to all who have given an old mobile phone in our endeavour to secure a defibrillator for our area.  We need about 80 more phones.  Could we appeal to you to make a final search in your homes for an unused mobile phone which we can forward to the Jack and Jill Foundation and secure this life saving device for our community.

Stations of the Cross:   Children who celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation recently will re-enact the Stations of the Cross in Ballina Church on Sunday, June 5th at 8pm.

First Friday of June:   Masses at 10am in Ballina and 7.30pm in Boher.  Both Masses will be followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.  Holy Communion to the sick and housebound during that day.

County Draw:   The first draw will be held next Friday night with the Skoda Superb or € 30,000 as first prize and the Skoda Octavia or € 15,000 as second prize.   There is still time to join this excellent draw with over half a million euro in prizes.  50% of takings go to the host club, which forms a lifeline for both club and county funds. The club has also commenced a draw for a pair of All Ireland Hurling tickets, a pair of All Ireland Football Tickets and a pair of Camogie All Ireland tickets.  An overnight stay in Dublin will accompany each pair of tickets.   This draw will be held at the end of August and your support, as always, is vital for this project.

 

Golf Classic:   The Golf Classic was held in Bodyke last Saturday.   Over 40 teams participated and it proved to be a great success with ideal weather condition. Prizes were presented in Mills bar later in the evening.  The club would like to thank everyone who helped to organised this event and in particular Brian Stritch, whose golfing and organisational skills were key to its success.

 

Intermediate Hurlers:   The Intermediate Hurlers defeated St Mary’s, Clonmel in the County Hurling

League last Sunday morning.   The match was played in Boherlahan with the final score being 6-11 to 1-4.  They now play Ballinahinch in the final game of the league in 2 weeks time.
