Ballygarvan had a hard fought victory over Clann na nGael in the Carbery Carrigdhoun Junior Football League Cup.

Played under lights in Pairc Liam MacCárthaigh, a Damien O’Sullivan goal a minute after halt time was the decisive score.

This goal, and four good points from Ken Ashman helped Ballygarvan come out on top over a young and committed Clann na nGael team.

With Shane O’Leary and John Barron outstanding in the full back line, and Ger Spillane mopping up everything in the half back line, Ballygarvan, playing against a stiff wind, took the game to their opponents. Ashman kicked three points and Ger Spillane and Matthew O Riordan scored a point each to leave the sides level at the interval 0-5.

After O’Sullivan’s goal Ballygarvan had points from Ashman, Gary White, and subs Denis O’Regan and Mark Kennefick to leave the final score Ballygarvan 1-9 Clann na nGael 0-9.
