There is one week to go before the first deadline. As reported – Dundalk FC have set a target of 1000 tickets to be sold by Saturday 10th April for the Europa League encounter in July. A major increase in ticket sales is required this week if the BE-TOP campaign is to succeed.
The reason for this is quite simple: without this up-front payment the club will not be able to afford the cost of the upgrade of Oriel Park to UEFA Category B standard.
UEFA will carry out an inspection of Oriel Park in May. This is a once -off inspection and all work must be completed at this point. Therefore, the money must be raised and work started within a matter of weeks in order for Dundalk to pass this inspection.
To
everyone who has booked a big thank you on behalf of the club
(supporters, officials, volunteers, staff and players) – the effort is
much appreciated. Many people have made very special efforts. A number
of supporters have purchased multiple tickets in order to make the
BE-TOP campaign a success.
It
is time for everybody who cares about Dundalk FC to take action. Less
than 400 tickets have been sold so far. Please do not think that you
can wait until the fixture is confirmed or that you can simply pick up
a ticket closer to the match. If you do not book your ticket this week
the match will simply not take place in Dundalk.
This is a great once-off opportunity to re-develop Oriel Park to make
it one of the best stadiums in Ireland. The legacy that such a
redevelopment will leave Dundalk FC cannot be underestimated. Dundalk
FC have a proud European history but have not hosted a European tie
since 1991. The BE-TOP Campaign can ensure that Oriel Park becomes a
much better facility for home and away supporters, is more attractive
to sponsors and can also be considered for Ireland underage
internationals.
