Urhan last night progressed to the Beara Final with an 8-11 to 3-10 win over Castletownbere in Cahermore.

As with the Under-14’s on Saturday, Urhan got off to a dream start, pointing within the first minute. When the resulting goal kick found its way to Conor Lowney he took the ball on and goaled, and Urhan had a four-point lead.

They were to be glad of it as the game was nip-and-tuck for the next twenty minutes, Town rallying fiercely. With half-time approaching Town had recovered the deficit and gone ahead 1-06 to 1-04. It would have been far more were it not for the outstanding Paddy Sheehan in goal making three fine saves.

As it was, Urhan were to be grateful to their goalkeeper. For when Andrew Neill (Coulaghard) goaled before the break Urhan took a two-point lead to the dressing room.

Urhan started the second half as they started the first, Conor Lowney goaling well. From there the game ran away from ‘Town as Urhan’s greater goal threat carried the day. Paddy Sheehan was still called into action on two occasions but Urhan, now a man up, made use of their advantage.

‘Town never looked like giving up, however, and two late goals showed their fight. The last word went to Urhan, though, and Joe O’ Sullivan, whose goaled brought an end to a lively game.

Urhan now play Glengarriff in a extraordinary triple-header with the game counting as a Beara Final, County Semi-Final and a SWL League game.
