Bord na nOg Presentation a huge success

The Bord na nOg Presentation evening took place in the Mayo Abbey resource Centre on March 4th. Bord na nOg Chairman Paul Murtagh addressed the large crowd where he reviewed a successful 2011 outlining that the club’s teams were involved in more than sixty league and championship games as well as several tournaments and blitzes. He particularly thanked all of our underage trainers for the tremendous dedication and effort they put into coaching and organising our teams throughout the year, the parents for their support throughout the year and most importantly a special thanks to our underage players for their enthusiasm and dedication, it was a pleasure working with them during the year.
To present the medals and awards to our players Mayo Gaels were very honoured to have special guests 2011 Young Footballer of the Year Cillian O’Connor and the most famous ladies footballer in the country and four time All Ireland winner Cora Staunton.

The underage parish league medals were given to our U-6’s, U-8’s, U-10’s and U-12’s for their great displays of football in the league. The U-13’s were presented with their league winners medals which they won in September. The U-14’s were presented with their championship medals that they won in July when defeating Belmullet in McHale Park. A special presentation was made to U-13 and U-14 managers Charlie Regan, Martin Henry and John Gallagher for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The U-15’s and U-16’s gave a great account of themselves in their respective competitions and fought hard in all their games throughout the year. The minors had a great run in the league and championship getting to the semis in both competitions.
Special presentations were made to Adam Gallagher (minor), Fintan Canavan (U-16), Kevin Jordan (U-16), Calumn Henry (U-14 School of Excellence), Gerry Canavan (U-14 School of Excellence) and Tommy Keane (U-14 School of Excellence) all of whom represented Mayo in 2011.
Mayo Gaels would like to say a big thanks to our special guests on the night Cillian O’Connor and Cora Staunton for attending our awards. They were on duty after the presentation for photographs and autographs and interacted well with the all our stars of the future.
