Borris in ossory G.A.A News

November 8, 2018

For a second year in a row our intermediate team have found themselves lined up for another championship final. After beating Shanahoe in their quarter final replay they overcame last years winners Camross in O’ Moore Park Portlaoise on Saturday. Although scoring was low in the first half by both sides with only five points a piece at the break, Borris came out fighting strong for the second half winning the throw ball for it to finish in the back of the net by Adrian Cullinane. Borris lead the game most of the way after this but fought hard for the rest to keep on top and finish with a final score of 1-11 to 9pts in our favor. More fine scores on the day came from Neil Foyle, John Kavanagh, Timmy Finlay and free taker Martin Coss. The second semi final is due to take place next weekend in Portlaoise between Colt and Trumera. The county final has been provisionally set for Sunday 12th October in Portlaoise to take place before the senior final. The under 12’s were also in action this Sunday and met Rosenallis in the county final only to be over came by a point in the end. A great achievement in its own right to reach the final the boys are already looking forward to next year. Also hard luck to the U 13’s beaten by Dicksboro in the semi final of the Lisdowney seven-a-side. Dicksboro then went on to win the cup beating James Stephens 3-8 to 3pts.
