November 7, 2018

The climax of the international flat season looms large as the build up to the 2016 Breeder’s Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, California on 5th November gathers pace. The nine championship races are scheduled to start at 7:05pm Irish time with the €6m Breeders Cup Classic the highlight and concluding race due off at 12:35am. Could this be the night that Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien breaks the world record for the most Group/Grade 1 races won in a calendar year?

Gowran Park is the place to be on 5th November as Young Irelands GAA Club stages a Breeders Cup extravaganza.

The night will get under way with pre dinner drinks from 7pm following by a four course meal commencing at 8pm.

All the while, live coverage of the Breeders cup on big screens with MC Kevin O Ryan from Attheraces building up to each championship race including interviews, video footage and pointers. Full betting facilities will be available as well as tipster competitions and guest prizes with free racecards.

Music and dancing will follow the racing until late.

The fundraiser, in aid of Young Irelands GAA Club’s development of it’s new playing facilities and club rooms promises to be a great night out as Breeders cup meets GAA.

Commenting on the night Club Chairman Liam Walsh noted “Having commenced construction of our Club rooms in Castle Ellis earlier this year, the reaction both in terms of voluntary effort and support from the public towards this ambitious development to date has been hugely gratifying. This Breeders Cup Extravaganza promises to be a unique night of entertainment and enjoyment. I think even those with only a passing interest in racing will be highly entertained. We look forward to hosting the event and greatly appreciate everyone’s support towards our development fundraising”.
