Bride Rovers G.A.A. Club News Round-Up For THe Week.

November 8, 2018

A large attendance was present for the Club’s Annual General Meeting which was held in Aras de Barra last week.  After words of welcome from Chairperson Kathlee Johnson the minutes of the 2008 AGM were read by Secretary Nicola Barry. These were adopted. Next up was the Secretary’s Annual Report for the 2009 season. In a very comprehensive 11 page report  Nicola went through the activities of the Club in minute detail.

Having reached the Co SH Final in 2008 the defeat to CIT in this years quarter final was very disappointing. Our u21 Hurlers put in a huge effort but lost the semi final and for the second year in a row we lost the u21 Football Final. We fielded three adult teams in hurling which is a great achievement. In football our Junior team went out of the championship in round two. Our Junior B football team  have reached the East Cork Final but this has yet to be played. The Minor hurlers have reached the Co League Final( which they subsequently won) and of course the Juvenile Club had a very good year. Nicola also dealt with games played in the pitch, referees, County teams and many other matters pertaining to the activities of the Bride Rovers Club in 2009.

James Bermingham  Club Treasurer then gave the Financial Statements for the year ending 30th November 2009.  While our Expenditure for the year was just marginally up on 2008 our Income was down significantly which meant we had a substantial loss on the running of the Club for the Year. With major Physical Developments now being planned for the Club Grounds the message was loud and clear that our expenses will have to be curtailed severely for the coming year.

Outgoing Chairperson Kathleen Johnson then addressed the meeting. She thanked all who had helped with the running of the club during the year. The players and selectors on all the teams put in a huge effort during the year and though titles and silverware were scarce all teams gave of their very best.. Kathleen also thanked all Club members and supporters for their help during the season. She had special praise for  her fellow Club Officers who had had done Trojan work.

Cork County Board PRO Gerard Lane then took the chair for the Election of Officers for 2010. Gerard thanked everyone involved with their club and wished them every success for the coming year.
