Bride Rovers G.A.A. Club news round-up for the week.

Training.

Despite very inclement weather conditions most Club Teams are back training –some indoor and dome outdoor. Ground conditions are still bad but hopefully with the days now lengthening things will soon dry up.

Membership Fees.

The Club is making a big effort to increase the General Membership of the Club for 2011. We want as many people as possible to join up – former players and former members and especially supporters all over the parish. The Annual Fee is €50 with reduced rates for Senior Citizens. The Bride Rovers Club is at the heart of the community and with major developments in facilities now being undertaken we need the support of as many friends as possible. The Membership Fee can be paid to any Club Member.

The Bride Rovers GAA Club Website is to be relaunched and revamped shortly. We are always anxious to attract new people to the club with specific skills so if you are skilled in this area we would welcome your help. If interested please ring 087 9538077.

Congrats.

It was a great day for Cork Hurling at Croke Park last Sunday.Meelin and Ballymartle captured All Ireland Club Championship titles in Junior and Intermediate Hurling. Well done to all concerned –we clashed with Ballymartle in the Cork IHC a few years back, the South East team beat us in that Pairc Ui Rinn encounter. The Cork hurlers also had a good start in the Allianz League with a 5 point win over Offaly, Brian Murphy helped the Rebel cause with a point.

Scor na bPaisti.

The East Cork semi finals of the Scor na bPaisti took place last weekend, on Saturday and again on Sunday. We had two singers, two in recitation, three novelty acts and a figure dancing group in the semi finals. When the results were announced two of the sketches and Grainne Noonan and Emma Barry got through to the East Cork Final. Well done to all who took part and thanks to their teachers and Scoil Bhride Principal Margaret Howard for all the hard work in preparation.

Shave or Dye.

On this Saturday night February a major fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society is taking place. Several Club players, members and supporters are getting various parts of their anatomies shaved or dyed! It is sure to be a hair-erasing event and is in aid of a very good cause so public support is welcome.
