Lights, Action and Snooker!

‘Tis seldom that the chance to see real top class world sporting figures close up and ‘in the flesh’. Well on Monday February 22nd sports fans in the Cork area will have a unique opportunity to see Snooker Legends Steve Davis and Denis Taylor in action. On that evening, Bride Rovers club is hosting a Snooker Exhibition between these two icons in the SG1 Club in Fermoy. For the last 25 years Davis and Taylor have been two of the top names in the ever-popular game of snooker. For most sports fans viewing these two would always gave been on the television, but now they are coming literally to our own doorstep. Denis Taylor and Steve Davis are staging a number of Exhibition games on a short ‘tour’ of Ireland in February. The Fermoy date is Monday February 22nd – so put that date in your diary. It promises to be a very special night, not just for followers of snooker, but for sports fans in general. Junior Football League

Our 2010 playing season opened last weekend. We had a good win over St Catherines in the East Cork Junior Football League. We were relegated from Division 1 to Division 2 last year so we will be playing Second Division League football this year. We had a good 3-11 to 0-6 win over St Catherines with Michael Collins top scorer with 2-1.

2009 Junior ‘B’ Grade Football Final

The 2009 East Cork ‘B’ grade football final has been fixed for Saturday week February 13th at 3.30 in Castlelyons. This final has been much delayed and much postponed so its good to have a definite date for the game. We are up against Russell Rovers first team in this final so it wall be a very difficult game to win.

2010 East Cork Draws

At the recent East Cork Board meeting the draws for the Junior and U-21 championships for 2010 were made. The minor draws will be made later. In the Junior A Hurling Championship we drew Cloyne and Carrignavar in the Junior A Football.

Scór Co. Semi Final

Having recently captured the East Cork titles for Question Time and Nuachleas, both our teams will be in action again on this coming Sunday night. The Co. semi final involving the winners and runners-up from Imokilly, Avonhdu and Carrigdhoun will take place in Lisgoold at 7.30pm. At this stage the competition will be very keen. The County Final is down for February 21st.
