Minor Football.

Under the new Coiste na nOg set up we played our first Minor game last Sunday. In the Minor B Football League we were at home to Slieverue –a two-club combination from the South East Division. After a one sided first half we came well into the game in the second half. At one stage we had the deficit down to four points but in the end we lost by 1-15 to 0-9. It was a good display for our first game of the season. We have some reservations about the new grading system however as 3 of the 5 teams in our group are amalgamations of two or three clubs. Leaving such combinations down in the B grade seems ludicrous.

This coming weekend we have a game v Gael Og (Whites Cross/Whitechurch/Grenagh). The game is fixed for Pynes Field on Sunday March 6th at 2 0 clock. Minor Hurling training is arranged for the Main Field on Fr4iday night. We welcome Rathvilly, Co. Carlow native Thomas Murphy to the Club And wish him well in his involvement with the Minor Football team.

The East cork final was held in the Mid Cork venue at Ovens on last Saturday evening. We finished as runners up in the Novelty Act with the Matchmaker Sketch and Emma Barry was 2nd in the Recitation. Well done to all our competitors and to Margaret Howard NT for all her hard work over the last few months in preparing all the Club competitors.

Fitzgibbon Cup Final.

Well done to our own Michael Collins who was on the University of Limerick panel which defeated UL in the Fitzgibbon Cup Final last weekend.
Our Curate Fr. Joe Rohan is a grandnephew of Dr. Edwin Fitzgibbon after whom the famous trophy is named.
