 Junior Football Final Not Played.

Our East Cork Junior B Grade Football Championship final V Russell Rovers was not played last weekend. The game was scheduled for Ballynoe on Saturday afternoon but due to the torrential rain on Thursday and Friday the Ballynoe venue was unplayable. This became known on Friday. We were agreeable then to toss for venue but Russell Rovers would not agree to this –normally clubs are told to toss not asked. In any case and in order to get the game played we agreed to travel to Shanagarry on Saturday afternoon for a 2.30 game. This was agreed upon. Then on Saturday morning the Shanagarry venue was deemed unplayable because of the ground conditions. Our pitch, while heavy was playable so it was presumed that the game would go ahead in Rathcormac on Saturday afternoon. Imagine our surprise and anger then when we were told that the opposition were unwilling to travel to our venue and the game was postponed.

Four weeks ago our semi final game v Aghada was fixed for Cobh. When this venue was ruled out because of the weather a coin was tossed – no ifs or buts, we lost the toss and travelled to Aghada to play the game and that was that. What has happened now is totally unacceptable, especially at this time of the year. It is quite possible that the Final may now go back to mid December .

Minor Co. Hurling League Semi-final.

We had our semi final game v Duhallow side Dromtarriffe pencilled in for Mallow last Wednesday night, under lights but unfortunately the weather conditions deteriorated badly and we were left without a venue. In fairness Dromtarriffe were willing to come to Rathcormac to play the game at the weekend but with the B Grade Final then down for decision this was not feasible. At the time of writing many pitches are closed so we cannot be sure of a venue for the game.
