Date Set for AGM.
With the 2011 playing season now finished thoughts are already turning towards next year. The Cork County GAA Convention will be held on Saturday December the 9th in Pairc Ui Chaoimh when the 2011 County Championship Draws will be made. The Officer Board for the coming season at County level will also be put in place. Our own Clubman Gerard Lane who has been an outstanding PRO for the GAA in Cork with the past three years is contesting the position of County Board Vice Chairman. We wish Gerard all the best in this endeavour. The previous Monday night December the 5th is the date for our own Club Annual General Meeting. This will be the opportunity to review 2011 and make plans for 2012. The season just finished was one of contrasting emotions especially for our Senior Hurling team. Two defeats, a draw and a win saw us come from the edge of a Relegation battle right back into Championship contention. When we defeated Blackrock it meant that we were in the last eight of the Cork SHC once again. We were bitterly disappointed then to lose to eventual County Finalists CIT. On the football front it was a terrible year with enquiries, appeals, administrative incompetence and absolute appalling application of the GAA rules. Our Junior Hurling team had a great year. After tremendous displays they went out to Sars in the Championship but went on to win the East Cork Div 2 JHL before losing to Glanworth in the County Series. We had no susses at u 21 or minor level which is a very worrying aspect for the Club’s future.
Off the playing field it was a year of fantastic development. Our Development Sub Committee forged ahead with the biggest Club Development since we purchased our Club Grounds. We now have a magnificent all-weather, floodlit training facility. It stands as a tribute and a monument to people of vision within the Club. The Official Opening of the facility by GAA President Christy Cooney in September was an outstanding and memorable night. Hopefully we can add further and better facilities for players and supporters in the coming year.
Our Ladies and Juvenile Sections had outstanding years collecting County Titles.

The 2011/12 Scor Season is about to get underway. Scor is the GAA’s Winter Talent competition. Competitions are held in Set and Figure Dancing, Ballad Group, Instrumental Music(Groups of from 3 to 6), Solo Singing, Novelty Act(Comedy), Recitation and Question Time.
Scor na Nog is for competitors under 17 years of age. The Bride Rovers Club hope to have entries in some of the categories. The East Cork Final is on Saturday night fortnight November 26th. Further details and entries ; contact Gerard Lane or John Arnold or any Club Officer.
Condolences.
We extend our sympathy to the Long Family of Glanmire on the death of Mrs. Anna Long. Mrs Long’s son Niall owned the Rathcormac Inn in the 1970’s and won an East Cork JBHC medal with the Rovers in 1975. Mrs. Long died just a week after celebrating her 100th Birthday.
