Playing Season

The 2011 Playing Season is just about to start. On Saturday week February 12th we play Fr O’Neills in the Junior Football League. Having won Division 2 of the League last year, we are back in the First Division this year. The game against Fr O’Neills is at home at 3pm. We are billed to play Dungourney in the preliminary round of the Junior ‘A’ Football Championship on March 19th. The winners of this game go forward to Round 3 while the losers will be out the following week against Carrigtwohill.

Senior Hurling League

Our Senior Hurling League campaign for 2011 opens on March 6th with a 4 o’clock home game against Carrigtwohill. A fortnight later on March 20th we are away to Douglas at 3pm.

2011 Championship Draws

The draws for the East Cork U-21 Championships were made recently. We are competing in the ‘C’ grade this year. In football we have just a straight final against Lisgoold. In Hurling we play Sarsfields ‘B’ and Lisgoold.

Minor Hurling

The Minor Committee met on last Monday night. Hurling training is to commence on this Sunday February 6th in Pynes Field at 12 noon. It is hoped to have training on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Congrats

Congratulations to Jason Pratt and Ryan O’Connor who were involved with the Cork Senior Hurling Vocational Schools team which defeated Limerick in the Munster Final last Saturday night. Cork now go forward to the All Ireland series and we wish them all the best.

Executive Meeting

We had an Executive Meeting on Monday night last. Amongst the items on the agenda which generated much discussion were the proposed deal between the GAA and the GPA and the future of the Interprovincial Competitions, formerly known as the Railway Cups.

Scór

It was a big weekend with Scór na bPáistí and Scór Sinnsear. All the action was in Lisgoold. We had success at both levels. In the Scór na bPáistí quarter finals we qualified for the semi finals with 3 Novelty Acts, 2 Solo Singers, 2 Recitations and Figure Dancing. In the Senior Scór on Sunday night we finished as runners up in the Question Time and Novelty Act. At this level two go forward in each competition so our quiz and novelty act teams will be taking part in the County semi final, again in Lisgoold on this coming Sunday night February 6th at 7pm. Well done to all those who took part and represented the club.

Cork Season Ticket

With the National Leagues starting shortly, fans are reminded that the Cork Season Tickets are now available. For just €75 (in either Hurling or Football) one can attend all the team’s League games as well as the first round of the respective Munster Championship. This is tremendous value. Full details from County PRO Ger Lane.

Car Boot Sale

The Parish Car Boot Sale is on next Sunday February 6th. Members will be rostered for duty on Saturday and Sunday but all help is very welcome especially on the Sunday evening clean up.
