Three Good Results For Juniors.

Our Junior Hurling team played three games in eight days in the Cavanaghs of Fermoy Imokilly Avondhu JHL and got a five point haul on the league table from a possible six.

Bride Rovers v Ballyhooley.

We travelled to Ballyhooley on Saturday the 4th of May  with an excellent panel of 26 players. Once again we started slowly and  following some needless frees we found ourselves 3 points behind before we registered our first  point from play via Terry. Having taken control at midfield we pieced some good moves together and registered some excellent scores and lead at half-time by 1-6 to 0-5,all of the Ballyhooley  scores coming from dead balls. We had a bright opening to the second half and fired over some wonderful points from play by Pat ,Richie and Stephen Boyce. After 15 minutes we brought on some fresh legs and Eoin Murphy scored 3 smart points while on the run. We took control of the game and a late goal by Richie ensured a comfortable victory on a final score of 2-15 to 1-10.

Scorers:  Jerome 1-4, Richie 1-1,Eoin 0-3, Terry 0-2, Stephen 0-3,Pat 0-1,and Cian 0-1.

On Tuesday the 7th of May we travelled to Mourneabbey to play hosts Clyda Rovers. On the night the weather was deplorable with gale force winds and constant rain -it was akin to October than May. We started with the advantage of the elements and led at half-time by 1-6 to 0-3 with the goal scored by Pat Walsh. We faced the elements in the second half and were on the back foot from the whistle with the weather deteriorating. Heroic  defending and an ‘all hands to the pumps’  determination we achieved a victory by 1-9 to 0-8.  We had 26 players also for this game.

Scorers:  Pat 1-1, Jerome 0-3, Jason  0-2, Gavin 0-1,Stephen Boyce 0-1 and Stephen Hackett 0-1.

On last Saturday evening  the 11th Carrignavar were the visitors to Pairc Na Bhride. Despite some injuries and examinations 22 players togged out for the game.

We opened brightly and within a minute Terry had the sliothar in the net following an excellent move. Following this Carrig had 4 unanswered points which we followed with some good white flags from Jason, Cian, Terry and Jerome. Following this Jerome scored a goal from a penalty when Stephen Hackett was fouled in the square. This was followed by a further goal from Cian and we led at half time by 3-9 to 1-6.

We faced the elements in the second half but started well and scored 3 points from Terry and Richie(2), before Carrig had a fortuitous goal after a shot well saved by Frank  screwed off his hurley,  hit the crossbar and dropped into the net, game on. Playing against the elements and the 3 games in 8 days were  telling on weary legs we were under much pressure. A few subs were introduced and with a minute left we were a goal ahead. A dubious free was awarded to Carrig on the sideline but the referee moved the ball some 15 metres nearer the goal and the sliothar was drilled to the net to leave the final score level at 3-14 each.

Scorers: Terry 1-5, Jerome 1-2, Cian 1-3, Richie 0-3,Jason 0-1
