ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Club AGM was held at Arus de Barra on Monday of last week, December the 10th with outgoing Chairman James Bermingham presiding. The meeting opened with the reading of the Annual Report.

Welcome to the 2012 Annual General Meeting of Bride Rovers GAA Club.
It is my privilege to report on the activities of the club for the past 12 months.
This year we experienced many highs & lows in the club both on and off the field of play.
Some of these include retaining our Senior Hurling status following our victory over Cloyne in the relegation play-off, which is vital for the growth of the club, but against that the low of losing 3 rounds in SHC when on all 3 occasions we were capable of winning. These results must be used to spur on the team in 2013 and to avoid any threat of relegation.
Being awarded a grant for €80,000 through the Sports Capital Grant Programme so that we can move onto phase 2 of the development which is a 60 x 40 metre all weather training pitch. This development is necessary to aid the development of our younger players but also in providing a facility where training can be held on a good surface whatever the weather conditions.
This year we saw the new club website, www.briderovers.ie launched, it is a fantastic site and is being maintained superbly by Gerard Lane. The site has on average 4500 hits per month, which is great for a club site. The news is current and up to date; also the latest Juvenile & Adult fixtures and results can be checked as well as the hundreds of photos now available to see on the site.
Phase 1 of the development, i.e. the hurling wall and Astro turf pitch are being used constantly, be it for training or for rental for teams wishing to play ‘Ground Football’. But the big news is that this development is now fully paid for. This was made possible by the generous contribution of the Rathcormac Parish Development Fund, the workers who gave their time for Free during its construction in 2011. The total project cost was approx. €100,000.
In there first year in the senior ranks, our Senior Ladies football team can be very proud of their achievements, reaching the League Final & losing out at the semi-final stage of the championship, well done to all & we wish you well in 2013. Also congrats to the Camogie team under the guidance of Tom Mulcahy who won the Junior Camogie County in an exciting contest with Charleville, this after the heartbreak of losing a year earlier. The disappointment of having to withdraw from the Junior A Football Championship, a competition we won in 2007, along with the relegation of our 1st team to division 3 football for 2013.The untimely passing of former club secretary, player & mentor Tony Walsh, May He Rest in Peace. Well Done Kildorrery
Due to family circumstances we had no Notes last week so let us belatedly send warmest congratulations to the Kildorrery Junior Hurling team. At Mallow on December the 9th they completed a memorable ‘Triple Crown’ of Divisional, County and Provisional Titles. In the Autumn of 1968 when Bride Rovers had won the East Cork JHC Title for the first time in 36 years one newspaper report stated ‘They’ll winter well in Rathcormac, Bartlemy and Kildinan this year after the local Hurling team captured the Holy Grail of East Cork Hurling’. Well ’twill be similar in Kildorrery this year, after many years of striving. They can look forward to an All Ireland Semi Final against the Cats of Thomastown in the spring but for now a warm glow of satisfaction wends it’s way to The Top of The Hill. Well done to all concerned.
20 Years Ago
This week two decades ago we were celebrating a marvellous win. Our Minor Hurlers took on Killavullen in the Co MHL Final on Sunday December the 20th, yes, just five days before Christmas. The game was played on a frosty Ballygiblin pitch. Having won the East Cork League the Minors then defeated Ballinora and Shamrocks to qualify for the County Final- the first in 60 years for the Club. Early goals from Terry Broderick and Pat Walsh helped us to 2 7 to 1 3 halftime lead. We added a further 7 points to win 2 14 , 1 3. It was a great boost for the Club with a brilliant group of players.

Camogie Club Equipment Appeal
The Bride Rovers Camogie Club is looking for hurling helmets and small size hurleys to promote the game at under 6 and 8 level. If anyone has such items the camogie Club would be delighted to get them.
Astro-Turf available to Hire
The astro-turf pitch at Bride Rovers is available for hire by contacting James Bermingham on 086 8350741. Pitch is suitable for 5 a side teams and costs €50 per hour with lights.
GAA Season Ticklets
The 2013 GAA Season tickets are now on sale. The Ticket combines admittance to the National League games and first round championship game for either the Cork Hurling and/or football teams. The Bride Rovers GAA Club website www.briderovers.ie is proving popular at home and abroad. If you have any ideas for improving the website or suggestions for additions please contact us. Recently over 100 extra photographs have been added in the Gallery Section as well as extra match reports. If you have any old Club photos we would love to put them up on the website so please contact any Club Officer. We have very few photographs from the 1940’s and 1950’s and would seek any GAA related pictures taken in the parish during this period. Even photos of groups or individuals at carnivals, tournaments or East Cork games would be very welcome. Also please remind family members scattered all over the world to log in and keep in touch.
Car Boot Sale

The County Championship Draws for 2013 were made at the recent County Convention. We are paired against the 2011 County Champions Carrigtwohill in what is a very tough draw.
