First Silverware of 2012

Success came early to the Club for the 2012 season. Before a sliotar is pucked or a ball kicked we are East Cork champions! At Lisgoold Community Centre on Sunday night last the 2012 Scor Sinnsear Finals for the Imokilly Division took place. There is an old saying that ‘it’s not the size of the dog in the fight that matters but the size of the fight in the dog’. Well that was certainly true on Sunday last. In total we had five competitors entered in four categories in the Scor Final as follows;

Solo Singing; John Power (Spancil Hill)

Recitation; John Arnold, ‘The Bishops Sermon from The Field’

Question Time; Daniel Lane, John Arnold & William O Leary

Novelty Act; Daniel Lane, John Power, John Arnold  & William O Leary  ‘ Cured’.

When the results were announced  Bride Rovers won Recitation and Novelty Act and Finished second in the Solo Singing. Marks for the best overall Club are awarded for participation and results and we won the Felix Sarsfield Trophy as the best Club. We also won the June Daly Trophy for the Novelty Act.  All the East Cork winners and runners -up now go forward to the County Semi Final back in Lisgoold on this coming Sunday night February 5th at 7pm. The Divisions of Imokilly, Avondhu and Carrigdhoun will be competing in this semi final. Also in Lisgoold this coming weekend and the following weekend the quarter finals of the East Cork Scor na bPaisti will be held and we wish all our National School contestants all the very best of luck.

Trophies Galore.

There was a dazzling array of Cork, Munster and All Ireland Trophies and Cups on display at the Vienna Woods Hotel on Saturday night last when the Camogie and Ladies Football Clubs celebrated the successes of 2011.  At both Club and County level it was a marvellous season and all concerned , players, parents, coaches, selectors and supporters can be justifiably proud of their outstanding achievements.
