Bride Rovers Juvenile GAA Club

U8’s first outing of 2010

On Saturday 6th March our U8 boys had their first outing of the year to Ballinacurra for a hurling coaching fun day. This was the first time playing hurling for many of the boys and they all enjoyed the outing.

Thanks to Brian Murphy for organising the day and to the host team for facilitating the event.

The other teams present on the day were Ballinacurra, St Catherines and Fr O’Neills. The older boys played a 20 minute game against each team and every boy involved gave it their all and showed that despite their young age they have hurling ability and enjoy playing for their club.

The younger boys were taken to a separate pitch and were coached by Brian and other coaches, and finished off with a small sided game of their own.

The players involved on the day were:

Adam Walsh, Eoin O’Sullivan, Jack Ryan, Ronan O’Connell, Darragh O’Sullivan, Adam Grogan, Dylan O’Leary, Riain Pegler, Tiernan McAllister, Cormac Finn, Evan Buckley, Evan Murphy, Padraig Evans, Bob Fitzgerald, Sean Nugent, Adam Hayes, Joseph O’Brien Whitmarsh, Frank O’Flynn, David Barry

U10 Decky Guckian Hurling

Last Saturday we hosted Midleton in our first Decky Guckian hurling match, where it was great to see 24 boys in the Bride Rovers gear. We started the game slowly and after the first 10 min period we were down 2-1 to 0-1, Conleth Ryan scoring a fine point. The second 10 min period saw each team scoring a goal, Jordan Mannix scoring for the Rovers. The Rovers stepped up a gear in the third period and got their just rewards with goals from Griffin O’Sullivan and Cian Hogan. Going into the last 10 minutes the score was 3-1 to 3-2 in favour of Midleton.

Both sides had chances and we were unlucky not to score. Midleton got that all important goal despite the Rovers best efforts and won the game by 4 points. The lads can be proud of their performance on the day.

Next game away to Fermoy Saturday morning at 11
