Bride Rovers Juvenile Club Notes.

U 15 Football

The Championship has kicked off already on Saturday 20th February. Our opponents were Cloyne Venue also Cloyne. Even though it was early in the season we had a few very good training sessions under lights. Our numbers were tight so we had some of the U12’s involved in the squad.

We played Cloyne a number of times last year U14, after some excellent matches, we failed to win so we were out for revenge. Two days before the match we lost Tadhg McAuliffe to U15 County Hurling Trials which was a big loss to us. We wish him the best of luck and hope he will be successful and inspire other players in the club.

The first half was a low scoring affair and tightly contested with a margin of 1 point in favour of the Rovers. Colm Power, Jamie,Luke,Declan and Ciaran in goal all played well. The second half opened with Cloyne scoring 2 early goals. After 10 minutes Bride Rovers recovered well with Darren Moore and Darren O’Shea on the score sheet. Dillon Browne & Shane O’Connor our U12 players worked extremely hard in the forward line and did the team proud.

Our captain Luke O’Sullivan led by example with the match drawn at 2-8 and this was a great result considering last year. After a discussion with the Ref and Managers it was decided to play extra time. We started well with 2 quick goals but Cloyne recovered quickly and we were all square at the interval.

However Cloyne were stronger in the second half with some good substitutes and won out unfortunately we only had the bare 15 players and tired in the end. It was a great display of football from both teams and we wish Cloyne the best of luck in the next round.

Team: Ciaran O’Grady, Declan Sheehan, Tadhg O’Sullivan, William Finnegan, Jamie Buckley, Cian O’Connor, Luke O’Sullivan(Captain), Sean Cotter, Shane Walsh, Darren Moore, Darren O’Shea, Padraig Noonan, Colm Power, Shane O’Connor & Dylan Browne.

U10

Our U10’s played their first game of the year last Saturday, a challenge game against Sars. Although beaten on the day it was great to see 23 players togged out with everyone getting a game.

We have our first competitive game this Saturday in the Decky Guckian hurling league playing Midleton at home at 11

Best of luck to all.
