U14 Football

Our under14 footballers qualify for the East Cork C final after a good win over St. Catherines in Rathcormac on Monday night. We got off to a great start with goals from James Barry and Dean Lenihan. The match was very competitive at this stage with some good flowing football on both sides. Cian O’ Connor and Shane Walsh were dominant at centre field creating good ball for the inside forwards. Dean and Dylan were making good runs on goal. St Catherines wernt having any of it and came back to level it with two well taken goals and a few points, but we finished the half strongly to lead by four points at the break.

Our backs were on top in the second half with Tadgh O’ Sullivan and DJ Cahill clearing everything in the full back line. William Finnegan was in control at centre back, greatly assisted by Colm Howard.  Jake Tobin was constantly sweeping up field and picking off some beautiful scores.  Darren Moore was rock solid in goals and his good puck-outs added to the cause. Shane O’ Connor and Dylan Browne were doing great work in the half forward line. Inside Declan Sheehan and James Barry were working very hard. St. Catherines never gave up and battled to the end. Cillian Kearney, Dayle Healy, Jordan Service, Jack O’ Connor and Jack Fitzgerald all made a contribution when introduced.  We now must meet the winners of Russell Rovers and Lisgoold in the final.  A special word of thanks to St. Catherines for rearranging this fixture for us.

The panel on the night was: Darren Moore, Tadgh O’ Sullivan, DJ Cahill, Colm Howard, William Finnegan, Jake Tobin, Shane Walsh, Cian O’ Connor, Dylan Browne, Dean Lenihan, Shane O’ Connor, Declan Sheehan, James Barry, Cillian Kearney, Dayle Healy, Jack O’ Connor, Jordan Service, Jack O’ Mahony, Jack Fitzgerald, Jessie Barry O’ Keeffe and Tadgh Sheehan

Bride Rovers 2-7   Youghal 2-4

Our u12 boys played Youghal in a league match in Pynes on Tues night 20th July and came away with a comprehensive win .Patrick in goals had a stormer showing no fear clearing his lines on several occasions .Youghal scored their first goal in the 23rd minute which just dropped under the crossbar and was well beyond his reach and their second one in the dying minutes of the game. Full back line of Brian DJ and Jordan Mannix were well tested and stood up to the task .Youghal were first to score in the second minute of the game but a minute later a great pass from Griffin to Conleth who hit it straight over to give the Rovers their first score. A move involving Eoin, Dylan and Jesse saw Jesse putting over our next score .A great run up the field by Adam and a pass to Shane O Connor resulted in our next…Leon  and Shane O Connor were winning the battle at midfield and driving great ball into the forwards. Shane O Flynn caught a great pass from Jordan who had run up from his half back position  to put it in the back of the net for our first goal .Youghal boys battled very hard and were awarded two frees  which their free taker had no trouble in scoring. Our last score of the half was a point from Jesse in the 21st minute from a free awarded to Dathal who got pulled down in front of goals.

The second half was dominated by the Rovers boys and if it wasn’t for the great keeping by their goalie Rovers would have won by a lot more. Eoin and Dathal had two great shots saved by him. Shane managed to get one passed him in the 18minute again another great pass in from Leon at Midfield .DJ, s puck outs in the second half were reaching the opponents 45 and Griffin, Jesse and Conleth were out in front winning every ball .Our backs withstood a great deal of pressure midway through the second half .Adam Dylan and Jordan withstood the pressure working great together to get the ball out of danger. Anything that did get passed Brian DJ and Jordan   were on hand to clear. Dean played his part when introduced with 10 minutes to go. Jesse and Jordan registered two more points both form 45,s and Youghal converted two one from play and won from a free to leave our boys ahead in the dying minutes 2gl 7 to 1gl 4. A lapse in concentration by our boys saw Youghal sneak pass for a late goal
