2011 East Cork Junior Ladies Football Final

The belated 2011 Junior final was finally played at Fuohy Park at 8pm on Friday, February 17th and resulted in a very one-sided encounter against Midleton which our girls won easily. Midleton had to field with only 13 players against almost a full-strength Rovers panel and their problems were compounded when one of their players had the leave the field through injury. We wish her a speedy recovery.

In truth, the Rovers girls were not tested in this final which saw some fine long range points from Niamh Barry and which was also notable for the two points scored by captain Emma O’Keeffe raiding forward from her corner-back position.

The awarding of the trophy to Captain Emma O’Keeffe marked the end of one era for this fine panel of footballers who now leave junior and intermediate football behind as they enter the senior ranks in 2012 and we wish all involved the very best of luck.

Bride Rovers Scorers : Sinead Walsh (0-1), Elaine Dee (1-2), Niamh Barry (0-3), Colette Hogan (0-1), Catherine Power (0-1), Jennifer Cahill (0-2), Mary Hazelwood (0-1), Emma O’Keeffe (0-2), Jennifer Barry (1-0), Imelda Dorgan (1-0)

2011 East Cork Minor Ladies Football Final

The minor final against Lisgoold, also held over from 2011, is due to be played shortly. Details to follow.

Qualification games for U14 Feile 2012 take place on Saturday, March 3rd, probably at Carrigtwohill but that is to be confirmed.

The club would like to offer its congratulations to Jennifer Cahill who has been selected on the Cork Minor Ladies Football panel for 2012. Jennifer has graduated from the Cork U16 ranks and has made it to the Minor panel while still only reaching the age of 17 this year so this is a super achievement for her. We wish her the very best of luck.

Finally, everyone would like to wish Chloe and Arianne O Flynn, and their mother Angela, a very speedy recovery from injuries suffered recently in a car accident. The O Flynn family have been central to club activities for many years and we hope to see all three back in Pairc na Bride as soon as possible.
