Intermediate Football

Our Intermediate side bid for provincial honours next Sunday, October 16th when they face Limerick side St. Ailbes in the Munster decider. The final will be played at Ballyagran with a throw-in at 3pm. Let’s get behind this fantastic panel as they bid to win more silverware and to enter onto the All-Ireland stage. Support has been very loyal during the Intermediate campaign and I’m sure it will be the same on Sunday afternoon.

U16 Camogie

Bride Rovers’ U16 camogie panel are into a County Championship semi-final after a great win away to Youghal last Thursday, October 6th.

U14 Ladies Football

Our U14s suffered another defeat to near neighbours Fermoy last Wednesday, October 5th in the semi-final of the East Cork Championship. The panel still have the U14 East Cork league final against Midleton to prepare for and we hope for better fortune in that decider because they are deserving of some success at the end of a long season.

U12 Ladies Football

Sunday, October 9th, East Cork Championship Semi-Final

St. Colmans 1-6                 Bride Rovers 3-9

This year’s U12 panel continue to defy expectations as they proved by reaching their third final of 2011 last Sunday. Our girls showed immense character by putting the crushing disappointment of losing a County Final behind them and put in a top class performance. St Colmans have proven to be tough opposition over the past 2 years and we expected more of the same last Sunday and were not disappointed. We played very intelligently in the first half with the strong wind at our back, kicked very few wides as sometimes happens in those conditions, and led by 8 points at half time, 2-7 to 1-2. The second half saw St Colmans stage a number of attacks but our backs, marshalled superbly by captain Aisling Finnegan, were equal to the task and restricted them to 4 points. We now look forward to the East Cork final against Aghada where we hope to make amends for last year’s final defeat by St Colmans. That final is likely to be played during the weekend of 22/23 October.
