Camogie News

Congratulations to the Bride Rovers Junior Camogie team which won the Co. ‘C’ title at Carrignavar on Sunday last. Adult camogie is only in its early days in the club so winning this title is a major boost. Last Sunday’s game against Blarney was a tough hard game of camogie. Blarney had the first score of the game – a goal as the first quarter ended. Gradually the Rovers girls got back into the game with some good points followed by a goal. The first ten minutes of the second half was a ding dong struggle as Blarney brought the defecit down to a single point. Repeated attacks were repulsed by a brave defence. Then in the last quarter the Rovers forwards took over and in the end won by 4-4 to 2-1. For team captain Irene Hogan, Imelda Dorgan, Catherine McHugh and Sinead O’Driscoll this was a very special day. They have given many years of service to the club playing football. For them this was a special occasion. All the other girls on the team have come up through the juvenile ranks. Well done to all the players and backroom team on a great win.
