CARLOW GAA 1916 EVENT - SATURDAY 2 APRIL

November 8, 2018

CARLOW GAA 1916 EVENT…..A chairde,

As you are all no doubt aware at this stage Carlow GAA will recreate the two County Finals from 1916 in Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow on Sat. 2nd April 2016. The teams involved are Tinryland & St. Patricks Tullow in football and Bagenalstown & Carlow-Graiguecullen in hurling.

The re-creation of these finals will involve authentic playing material and equipment symbolic of the time. In conjunction with Carlow Tourism and the PanCeltic International Festival, Carlow GAA will lead a parade from Dublin St. to Netwatch Cullen Park at 4pm followed by the two games which will be played by current Club members.

Entry to the event is free and people are encouraged to dress in clothing relevant to the period. Some surprise mini-events are also planned for the stadium on the evening and a large crowd is expected for this unique occasion for Carlow.

We are hoping all Carlow GAA's Clubs will join the parade from Dublin St. and march behind their Club flag/banners with as many of their members young and old as possible. This is a once off, hugely unique and poignant occasion for Carlow GAA and we really need to have all our Clubs represented on the day.

Best regards,
