* The Minor Footballers were well beaten by Burren last Tuesday Night. The performance by the Town was disappointing and the lads know that they must improve immensely.

* The Senior Footballers remain unbeaten after a good win in Drumgath last Friday Night. 2-13 to 0-09 was the final score. A steady all round performance with Rurari McArdle having an immense game at full back and a strong midfield performance by Luke Toner and Paddy Boyle. Also good performances by Colin Flanagan and Liam McKibben.

* The Under 16 footballers had perhaps their finest performance of the season with a great win over Downpatrick last Tuesday Night in the Meadow. They were 3-07 to 1-04 down at half time but a fantastic second half performance by the whole team culminated with Sean Hardy scoring winning goal at the death. It would be unfair to pick out any one player to mention over another one. John and Kevan are well pleased with this performance especially from those lads who stepped in for the boys who were injured. It has given them food for thought. Well done to the lads

* The Under 14 hurlers drew with Warrenpoint in The Meadow on Friday Night past. Conor and the management team were very happy with the performance. They are starting to gel together well as a team. Keep it up lads.

* The Girls under 12 season got off to a damp start on Saturday past when the home fixture against Bryansford was cancelled due to the inclement weather. Training as usual on Wednesday evening at 5.15pm. The next fixture is away to Clonduff on Saturday.

* The heart screening programme for our younger players will take place in the Club on Thursday 26th May 2011 between 7.00p m and 9.00pm. Please look in the club window for your time slot on the evening. For any further clarification please contact Miceal Crilly on telephone number 07920875642.

* The U14 ladies footballers recorded a great win on Sunday over rivals Carryduff by 3-07 to 3-04 in pretty windy conditions. Fantastic performances by Sinead Sweeney who has found her niche at centre half forward, Clare Owens, Anna Rogan and Aislinn Burns whose performance in goals was simply outstanding. I wonder where she got her goalkeeping skills?

*The Under 16 camogs were beaten by a strong Clonduff Team. There was a better 2nd half performance in this game with in particular Clare Cleland and Paidi Hawkins showing up well.

* Castlewellan Under12 footballers won 3 out of 6 matches at the Carryduff tournament last Saturday.  They got off to a great start with a 1-3 to 0-3 win over Kinawley with Ethan Aulds (0-1) and James McAleenan (1-2) on target.  After being beat by the host side, a 1-4 to 1-1 win over Glenavy saw them finish runners up in the opening group, with Daire McVeigh scoring a great goal and points from James McAleenan (0-3) and Sean Keown. After defeats to Clann Eireann and Warrenpoint, Castlewellan finished the day with their best performance beating Newry Mitchells 3-2 to 2-1 with James McAleenan registering 2-2 and Conor Keenan sealing the victory with a great goal at the end.  Team:  Ruairi Howell, Matthew Muldoon, Sean Keown, James McAleenan, Callum McKibben, Mark Rice, Daire McVeigh,Ethan Aulds, Jordan Valentine,  Conor Keenan, Brian Brannigan, Cleveland Boyle, Niall Garland, Ryan O’Hagan, Dara Fitzpatrick.

* The veterans – those guys you see in the bar on a Sunday night decided to pull back on the boots for a recreational seven-a-side tournament in The Meadow on Saturday past. Conditions were poor though that is not an excuse for their performances. There were wins over Drumgath and Loughinisland with one defeat to the competition winners An Riocht. There are call ups in the next tournament for Gary Toner, Miceal Crilly and Kevin Sweeney. They talked a good game last weekend and we are all keen to see if they will actually play. Watch this space!
