Castlewellan GAC Weekly Notes

November 8, 2018

* A New Year hence renewed vigour and fresh enthusiasm for 2012. It is always good to look back at last year and reflect on it. Our senior footballers are back in Division 1, the hurlers had success as you will see in the next item, hurlers at the under 14 and under 16 levels reached their respective finals the older age group winning their final, Sean Patrick Carville coming so close at the Feile, The underage girls at under 14 and under 16 level winning their respective league and championship doubles, fielding a senior ladies camogie team for the first time in years.

* A meeting will take place in the Club on Friday 6th January at 8.30pm for all those interested in playing adult hurling for the club this year. We encourage all those new faces to attend the meeting to gauge the level of interest. We are keen to build on the success of last year where we narrowly lost the championship final, gained promotion in the Ulster League and promotion in the All County Hurling League.

* The Christmas Cracker took place on 27th December with Audie McVeigh once again being the clubs highest placed finisher with his Newcastle partner Ian Kendal. Audie and Ian finished in 13th place which was an excellent result. Knowing Audie he will be keen to improve on this year’s finish and he will be going for the hat-trick as the Club’s highest finisher next year. A good night was had by many of the participants in the Club afterwards. Well done to all the competitors. Thanks to Ciaran Brannigan for his work on the day.
