Killala go through to the  Cup Final

Killala 2 Knock/Kiltimagh 1

Killala mens team booked their place in the Tonra Cup Final in Milebush Park on the 2nd August by virtue of this hard fought cup semi final victory at Courthouse St. last night. Rory Gallagher gave them an early lead with a well headed goal after only two minutes but they failed to capitalise on the early bonus and it was the visitors who settled first and only for Sean McHale in the Killala goal they might have found themselves in arrears at the break during a half when  Jonny McNulty and Marc McDonnell both went close for the home side instead it was 1-1 due to a leveller  just before halftime. Immediately after the break though Killala stepped it up.  The Visitors keeper was in terrific form denying Rory Gallagher twice in succession to keep his team in it . A penalty back of the crossbar by player manager Mark McLoughlin on the hour must have triggered doubts in the Killala lads  minds to whether they would ever score but 2 minutes later a John Clarke run down the right  ended in a cross which Jonny McNulty steered home what proved the winner from 12 yards. Killala went on to dominate after this and could have had more goals but for a combination  of good goalkeeping and poor finishing. The visitors despite down to 10 men for the final 6 minutes finished with a late flurry and could have forced the game in extra time but that would not have done the homesides endevours any justice. Team Sean McHale, Matt Webb, Eamon Knox, Aidan Ferguson, Mark McLoughlin Marc McDonnell, Brendan Ryan, John Clarke, Kevin Whyte, Jonny McNulty, Rory Gallagher Subs Michael Noone Alan Murphy

Semi Final Night

The Mens team host Knock/Kiltimagh Utd at Courthouse St. on Thursday Night  (7pm ko) in the Tonra Cup Semi Final .  Killala will be looking for their second final appearance in 3 seasons but will have to improve vastly on their patchy league form if the want to progress to the decider. They welcome back Brendan Ryanfrom suspension and Sean McHale from holidays but have doubts over  Marc McDonnell and Eamonn Knoxwho went off injured last Sunday and Matt Webb and Richard Lynn who missed that game. Good luck to Mark and Kenny and all the lads
