SENIORS

The Seniors made it through to the Quarter Finals of the Senior Championship at the weekend, by the skin of their teeth. Playing Lavey in Virginia, we needed a draw to make it through and that was what we got ( just!) with a final score of 1-9 to 0-12.

Despite us opening the scoring early, Lavey  took charge and lead 0-3 to 0-1 after 10 minutes. The Stars then took a grip on proceedings and Ryan McCormack was to the fore slotting over some nice scores before powering home a penalty to see us lead 1-6 to 0-4 as we approached the break.  Finishing strongly though,  Lavey narrowed the gap to leave a goal between the sides at the break.

The 2nd half saw us introduce County Minor, Joe Dillon  but tellingly a torrential storm also emerged for the 2nd half.  Kingscourt and Dillon opened strongly with two early points but playing into the heavy rain started to take its toll and Lavey began to slowly narrow the gap.

As we entered the final quarter we led 1-8 to 0-9 and when Barry Reilly tapped over to put a goal between the sides with 10 minutes left, it looked like a reasonably comfortable passage was on the cards. However, Lavey came with a final push and slotted over some superb scores as the clock ticked down.

As we entered injury time the sides were level and Lavey were finishing the stronger but Alan Clarke marshalled the defence superbly and the final whistle saw a relieved Kingscourt make the knockout stages while a spirited Lavey can consider themselves extremely unfortunate to have missed out.

Next up for the Seniors is their penultimate league match which is  away to Castlerahan on Sat 20th August @ 6.30pm. The Championship Quarter Final is scheduled for the last weekend of August with the draw due to take place next Sunday evening.

JUNIORS

The Juniors make their long-awaited Championship entrance this week when they face a trip to Lacken on Wed (10th) @ 7.30pm. The winners of this game will then be away to either Castlerahan or Ramor Utd in the Quarter-Finals on Wed 24th August.   In league matters, while a semi-final spot has already been secured, the lads will play Castlerahan away on Sat 20th @ 5pm in their final normal game.

UNDERAGE

The Minors are continuing their preparation for the upcoming Championship when they will face St. Josephs at home on Tuesday 16th August @ 7.30pm. The winner of that game will then face the winners of Ramor/Killinkere or Eire Og Celtics on Tuesday 23rd August at 7.30pm.

The 13s are into the Championship Semi-Final and will play Ramor Utd at 7.45pm on Tuesday 9th in Kingspan Breffni Park.
