SENIORS & JUNIORS

The Seniors and Juniors kept up their winning ways with a double victory over Belturbet on Saturday evening. Despite a shaky start the lads recovered from an early deficit to win 1-18 to 2-9.  The Juniors also put in an impressive show with a 2-13 to 0-3 victory.

Next up for the Seniors is their Championship opener on Sunday evening at 8pm v Mullahoran in Kingspan Breffni Park. The Juniors next match is also their Championship opener  which is away to Lacken, but that’s not until Wed 10th August.

CONGRATS

A huge congratulations to Joe, James, Padraig and all the players & management of the Cavan Minors on their thrilling Ulster Final victory on Sunday. Despite starting the second half trailing against the hot favourites and playing against the conditions they never gave up and showed a great attitude in overcoming all the odds to register the county’s first Minor title since 1974.

Well Done to all involved and hopefully another big crowd will turn up for the All-Ireland Quarter Final against Galway over the Bank Holiday weekend.

UNDERAGE

The 16s season came to a disappointing end last week when O’Raghallaigh Gaels (Kingscourt/Shercock) were beaten 1-12 to 1-10 (AET) by St. Killians down the Park (Cuchullainns/Killinkere) in the Division Two Championship Quarter Final last Tuesday evening.

The 13s also had a tough week as they were beaten 5-11 to 2-9 at home to Cavan Gaels on Thursday evening. Again, I’ve no fixtures for the 13s so can’t tell you when they are next out.

The 10s had a blitz down the Park on Saturday morning and we will hopefully have pictures from that up on the website later in the week.

CLUB MERCHANDISE

The club is delighted to announce that a new batch of club merchandise will be available directly from the club by the end of the month at little more than cost price.  The options will include replica jerseys, polo shirts, jackets, training tops and hats.  The jerseys are already up on www.kingscourtstars.ie and the other gear should be up later this week. Jerseys are a steal ranging from just €25- €35.

Sizes will range from the 8 to 80 with prices varying depending on size but as said they will practically be sold at cost price.  You can get a look at the range of products on the website, at Senior home matchs or Sunday juvenile training. Alternatively you can ring Niall on 086 8237382 or ask the various team managers for more details.

CUL CAMPS

The annual Kingscourt Stars GAA Cúl Camp starts next Monday (25th) down the Park. It runs Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm and as usual involves a fun-filled, GAA packed week. The cost is €65 per child with discounts for more than one family member.  Places can be booked online via www.vhiculcamps.gaa.ie  or you can contact James Brown on 086 8640380.

Always giving out about the Ref?  Reckon you could do a better job?  Let’s be honest, who has never thought that!! However, do we actually know the rules of the games that we love to watch and play??The official rules are now up on the club website to have a look at.  Check them out, you might actually be surprised with what you see, and perhaps go easy on the ref the next time, well maybe….
