SENIORS & JUNIORS

The Seniors had a week off with the postponement of their match against Lavey. Sadly, though, the Junior match went ahead, although the Juniors great form to date did not continue and we were well beaten by 2-11 to 0-10.

Next up for both sides is a double header at home to Mullahoran this Saturday evening (4th). The Junior match is scheduled for 6pm with the Senior at 7.30pm, but that could be switched round so check the website for any changes.

THE PITCH

Kingscourt Stars GAA is proud to announce that Shane Connaughton’s acclaimed play “The Pitch” will finish its nationwide tour in Kingscourt. The club have arranged for the Matt Talbot Hall to host this brilliant production on Friday 24th June @ 8.30pm .

The play centres around the lead character (Philly – performed by Shane himself) who lives on a picturesque site up in the mountains in West Cavan that local developers want to build on.  At the same time, the local GAA club are preparing for the County Final which they are looking to win for the first time since the 40’s, when Philly was the star of the team (until he missed the final through suspension).

What unfolds over the following few hours is both humorous and touching and will have you fully engaged throughout. It is highly recommended to anyone who has any interest in either GAA, Irish Culture or life in rural Ireland, both now and over the past half a century.

Tickets are just €10 and are available from Pat Faulkner or any committee member.  A great night is guaranteed and all proceeds will go to the club’s attempts to further increase the Scór involvement in the club.

UNDERAGE

The 12s finished off their league campaign with an exciting 5-8 to 5-8 draw at home to Knockbride last week. They now head to Newry on the 4th June for their big annual blitz (previously U-10).  This event has 40 teams from all over the country and is always a great event. We hope to have pictures from this up on the website next week.

The Girl’s U-14s qualified for  the Division Three League Final for the second year in a row with victory over St. Finbarrs last night (Monday). They are due to play Cornafean in the final and that more details on that will follow later this week.

Aside from that the Girls will take part on a blitz in Carlanstown on Saturday morning and last week took part in a Gaelic For Girls Super Blitz in Bawnboy which involved over 40 teams from all over the province.
