MINORS

The Minors won the club’s first Division One League title since 1982 with a super 2-14 to 2-8 victory over Crosserlough in Virginia on Saturday evening. A bright opening saw the Stars go a couple of points clear and while Crosserlough replied with a goal , Kingscourt pushed on and some great dead-ball kicks from Cian McArdle along with points from Joe Dillon and Ryan Carey re-established the side’s lead to 0-8 to 1-2 with 20 minutes gone. However Crosserlough dominated the remainder of the half and were unlucky just to lead by 1-7 to 0-8 at halftime.

A rejuvenated Kingscourt side started the second half full of energy and an early Michael Gargan goal saw us retake the lead and the lads never looked back. Points rained in from all over the forward line before a superbly taken goal from Jack Sheenan sealed the deal with less than 10 minutes remaining.

A late Crosserlough goal narrowed the gap somewhat but it was too little too late and there was jubilant scenes at the final whistle among the Kingscourt team, management and the large support. A great performance by all the lads and there was great delight was Eoin Lynch lifted the trophy and also Aaron Brown was given the Man of The Match award. Well done to all involved and best of luck to all the lads who are involved in the up-coming exams.

SENIORS & JUNIORS

The Seniors bounced back from their loss to Killeshandra with an impressive 3-9 to 1-8 victory away to Killygarry on Sunday. Before this the Juniors kept their unbeaten run going with a 2-11 to 1-13 win over the same opposition.

The Juniors have a little break now before they entertain Lacken on Saturday week (21st) however the Seniors are very busy as before they host Lacken on the same date they face tricky trips to Redhills (Sat 14th) and Gowna (Wed 18th).
