SENIORS

The Stars bowed out of the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship when a power-packed final 25 minutes saw Naomh Conaill (Donegal) turn a three point deficit into a 1-12 to 0-11 victory. O’Raghallaigh Park was awash with blue as a large and energetic travelling support joined the huge home crowd with both stand and terracing packed as well as many on the grass banks.

The first half was nip and tuck as both sides exchanged scores in a pulsating encounter that saw Kingscourt lead 0-6 to 0-5 at halftime.  The Stars opened the 2nd half with a further two points to lead 0-8 to 0-5 but the Donegal side didn’t panic and slowly turned things round to lead 0-11 to 0-9 as we entered the final 10 minutes.

The visitors punished a defensive error and Leo McLoone found the net soon after but Kingscourt kept their heads and narrowed the gap to a solitary score at 1-11 to 0-11. However, the lads could just got find a chance to get the goal they needs and the final score came from the visitors. For some pictures fronm the day, just click here.
