SENIORS

The Seniors secured a championship final spot with a super 0-16 to 1-8 victory over Ramor Utd on Saturday night at Kingspan Breffni Park. The Virginia side started brightly and led 0-5 to 0-2 after the first quarter really should have been further ahead, with points from Colm Smith & Barry Reilly all Kingscourt had to show. However, beyond that, the Stars took full control with Mossy Malone and Ryan McCormack winning countless balls in round the middle and contributing to seven unanswered points from all over the field.

By  halftime we were 0-9 to 0-5 clear and while the game remained in the balance in the third quarter, mainly due to poor finishing from both sides, it was the Stars who always looked the more dangerous. After a stoppage that saw the referee being replaced (for the 2nd time in Kingscourt’s championship run – and thankfully Jimmy Galligan was reported well afterwards) Kingscourt stepped it up a level and powered away with points further points from Reilly & McCormack while Philly Tinnelly and Alan Clarke also chipped in.

A strange injury time penalty put some gloss on the scoreboard for Ramor who will have been disappointed that they did not give a true reflection of themselves, especially after a great opening. For the Stars, it’s the club’s first final in 11 years and excitement is starting to build as the club and town make preparations for the final which will be @ 4pm in Sunday 26th in Kingspan Breffni Park.

JUVENILE DRAW

The juvenile club’s annual fundraising draw took place last night and Peter Oates won the first prize of  two tickets to the All-Ireland Senior Football Final along with overnight accommodation in Skylon Hotel and €200 spending money.  The remaining cash prizes were won by Laurence Shekelton, Peadar Mohan, Pat Murphy, Patrick McCabe, Margaret Farrelly, Ben McDaniel and finally, Val Daly.

A huge thank you to all who both and sold tickets in this vital fundraising draw for the Juvenile Club.

GAMES IN THE PARK

Shercock will replay Bailieboro for a place in the Junior C Championship Final @ 3pm this Saturday for those interested in taking a trip down to the Park.

COUNTY FINAL PREPARATION

We would ask the town to show their support for the Seniors ahead of the County Final not only by making the trip to Breffni on Sunday week, but also to display the club colours wherever you can.  Pat’s and M&F’s both have a huge range of flags, bunting and other such gear. The club will also be doing their bit to paint the town blue, and we would ask if you could do your bit as well.

For the final itself, the club would ask that as many people as possible make the trip to Breffni and we particularly want to get as many young supporters there. Juvenile chairman, James Brown hopes to visit the school this week and the club will arrange transport for any juvenile supporters who’s parents are unable to make the trip. Just contact James on 086 8640380.
