The Seniors made it four out of four with another comprehensive victory at O’Raghallaigh Park on a beautiful Summer’s evening.  A delicate flick of the hand from Ryan McCormack saw us a goal up within a minute, and a minute later Colm Smith hit the post when clean through.

However the tone had been set and a great team move was easily finished to the net by Daryll Martin. Further points from Martin, Smith, Barry Reilly & Mark McGovern had the Stars 2-5 to 0-1 clear after the first quarter.

Another great team move saw Philly Smith rattle the crossbar as the Stars ran riot and Philly Tinnelly & Mark McGovern found the scoresheet and by halftime the score was 2-12 to 0-3.

The 2nd half not surprisingly lacked the same intensity as Kingscourt through on the subs and Killygarry showed some admirable spirit.  At the end it was a comfortable two points as the Stars stretched their unbeaten league run to over 18 months.

The side now has a run of two further home matches starting with Killeshandra on Friday 14th and Ballinagh on Wed 19th.

JUNIORS

The Juniors gained their first success of the year in the opening match on Saturday with a hard-fought 0-10 to 0-6 over Killygarry.  After a tough start to Division Three hopefully this will give the team some confidence to press on .

Next up is a trip to Muintirconnacht on Saturday evening at 7pm followed by a home match against Templeport on Saturday 22nd at 4pm.

LADIES

Congrats to the Cavan Ladies, and in particular to Kingscourt native, Claire Murtagh who played midfield, on the superb NFL Division Three title at the weekend.  The only county side to go through their league campaign with a 100% record.  A great inspiration to all the underage girls who are training every Sunday morning down the park.  If only I knew when they were playing……..:-)

UNDERAGE

The 16s secured a great victory away to Crosserlough last week by 3-14 to 1-9.  They will look for their third victory of the season when they host Castlerahan on Tuesday evening at 7.15pm

The 14s met a very strong Bailieboro side last week and despite keeping things tight early on, the Shamrock’s overall strength saw them through by 2-12 to 1-3.  They face another tough tie this week when they host Rmaor Utd on Thursday evening

The 12s gained victory over Ramor Utd last week and host Crosserlough tonight (Mon)  before finishing up their group matches away to Cavan Gaels on 17th

HURLING

Underage Hurling returns to Kingscourt for May and June. However instead of it taking part on it’s own on saturday evening, it will form part of the hugely succesful Sunday morning training sessions. Watch this space for further details.
