SENIORS

The Seniors opening league match against Ballinagh was postponed due to the Ulster U-21 semi-final, so they still await their opening match. The fixture has not been re-arranged. They face Drumhowan (Monaghan) at 8pm on Tuesday evening down the park in a challenge match. Their opening league match will now be a trip to Lacken on Sunday 18th @ 4pm, however the U-21’s could have a say in that also….

JUNIORS

The Juniors opened their debut season in Division Three when they hosted Shannon Gaels on Sunday.  The side opened strong and secured a halftime advantage and looked to be on their way to the points until a two goal blitz from the visitors turned the game around midway through the second half.  The lads couldn’t recover and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-7 to 1-10 scoreline at the final whistle.  Next up the sat nav’s are out as we have to make the trek to Swanlinbar on Sunday 18th @ 12 noon (yeah 12 noon!!)

MINORS

The Minors completed the Easter Football Feast down the park when they secured a vital 1-10 to 2-2 victory over St. Finbarrs at 2pm on Easter Monday.  In a must win game the lads started well and led 0-4 to 0-1 at halftime, despite playing against the wind.

Both sides found the net early in the second half before the Stars powered ahead with some great team play and scores coming from all over.  A victory in our final match away to Laragh Utd on 18th April @ 2pm will now secure a semi-final spot.  Uptodate league table is available here.

U-21’s

Best of Luck to the Cavan U-21’s in this week’s Ulster Final v Donegal on Wed @ 8pm inm Enniskillen.  We particularly wish good luck to the club’s three representatives, Barry Reilly, Shane Gray & Colm Smith.  We would encourage anyone who can make the trip to do so and support the team as there super performances to date deserve plenty of support.

UNDERAGE

The 16’s start their league campaign on Friday 9th April @ 7.15pm at home to Ramor Utd. The 14’s were due to start their league campaign on Tuesday 30th March away to Laragh Utd but the arctic conditions put paid to that.  The game was not re-arranged and their next match is home to Crosserlough on Thurs 15th April.  The 12s schedule is now available and they start their season home to Cuchullains on Monday 12th April.  Detailed fixtures on all the above sides are listed on each team’s fixture tabs.

The 8’s & 10’s are continuing to train as are the various underage girls sides but I have no fixture details for them yet.  If anyone is interested in either playing or helping out with any of the above sides, please either e-mail the club on info@kingscourtstars.ie or contact our juvenile chairman, James Brown on 086 8640380.

HURLING

A Foundation level coaching course for hurling starts on Wednesday 14th April at 7pm, running for three weeks in Killinkere Leisure Centre. These courses take around 2.5 hours each night incorporating both the child protection and welfare as well as the skills of hurling.

For more details, please contact Willie Gaughan (086 1649280). We need as many people as possible to do this course as we don’t have enough qualified hurling coaches at the moment. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY to participate in this course, just a willingness to try something new

STARS TV

Plans to stream matches are still continuing  and hopefully we should have some definite news on this regard by the end of April (plenty of glitches to be ironed out yet).  However, our search for a commentator continues so if anyone knows of any person they think would be suitable or interested can they please contact any committee member or Niall on 086 8237382.  Go on, even Micheal O Muircheartaigh had to start somewhere….
