SENIORS

With Cavan now out of the All-Ireland Qualifiers, focus reverts back to the club championship.  After a hard-fought victory over Lacken first time out, Kingscourt return to Virginia this Saturday evening at 7pm where they face last year’s county finalists, Denn.  A victory here would guarantee a quarter-final place but it will be a tough ask.  There was a great Kingscourt crowd for the last match so hopefully everybody will turn out in similar numbers again.  So come on, make the short trip to Virginia and cheer the side on and show your support.

JUNIORS

The Juniors will play Belturbet on Wednesday 22nd at home at 8pm (well, third time lucky hopefully).  This will be their final match before their Junior B championship opener away to Crosserlough on Wednesday 29th at 8pm.  The following Bank Holiday Monday (3rd) they will then face a trip to Ballyjamesduff to face Castlerahan in the league, and then on Wednesday 5th they will face another away trip to Gowna/Killygarry in the Championship, if they manage to beat Crosserlough in the opening match, that is.

U-16’s

The 16’s met Cavan Gaels in the League Final in Breffni last Friday night.  However a poor opening  saw the Stars trail by 0-7 to 0-1 at halftime.  A superb start to the second half saw the gap narrowed to 0-9 to 0-7 but a Gaels goal gave knocked them back again.  In the end they had too much to do, and were beaten 1-14 to 1-8.

Commiserations to all involved with the side as they had a terrific run in the league.  Photo’s and match report from this game will be up on the website later this week.  Photo’s of the semi-final victory over Ballyhaise are already available.

Next up is the U-16 championship draw which is due to take place this week and kick off next week.  Details of this will be announced when we have them.

U-12 GIRL’S

The U-12 Girl’s also appeared in a league final this weekend and unfortunately it was a similar story to the U-16’s.  A disappointing opening half left them with too much to do.  However a superb second half saw them outscore Ballymachugh and threaten a comeback but in the end they could just not manage it.

However, everybody connected with the side should take great encouragement from their efforts as reaching a League Final in their opening season is a tremendous achievement.  Photo’s from their final training session and the final will be up on the website later this week.
