SENIORS

Kingscourt maintained their unbeaten record with another comfortable victory over Cavan Gaels in O’Raghallaigh Park last Saturday afternoon.  After a tight first quarter, Kingscourt eventually moved clear and were 0-5 to 0-0 up after 20 minutes and led 0-6 to 0-1 at halftime.

Playing with the wind in the second half, it was one-way traffic for most of the game and after initially struggling to hit the target, we eventually found our range and all the forwards and midfielders hit scores with Darragh Gunne, in particular, popping over some delightful scores.

At the end it was a 0-16 to 0-2 victory that all but secures promotion ahead of the championship and allows the side to focus on the opening championship fixture against Lacken on June 14th in Virginia at 2pm.

On a related note, best of luck to Sean Og Gargan who is part of the Cavan Junior side who face Louth in the Quarter Final of the Leinster Junior Championship on Thursday evening in Dundalk at 7.30pm.  Only a short spin over the road, if anyone is interested…

MINORS

This Saturday sees Cavan minors enter the Ulster Championship when they face Down in the Athletic Grounds in Armagh at 2pm. With both Barry Reilly and Thomas Rogers on the panel, the club is well represented, and indeed, Barry Reilly captains the side.  We wish the two lads and Mickey Graham’s whole side the best of luck and would encourage anyone who can get along to Armagh to do so, and lend your support.

We would also like to wish all the minor panel that our sitting the Leaving Cert the very best of luck.

JUNIORS

The Juniors will be looking to make it six wins out of six when they host Gowna at 2pm on Sunday 31st May.

JUVENILE

The weather proved the only thing that has managed to defeat the U-16’s so far this year with their match against Bailieboro being cancelled.  The league will now take a break for the Junior Cert and we wish all members of the panel the best of luck in their upcoming exams. The league is expected to re-start in July with the Championship to follow soon after.

The 14’s & 12’s finished of their league campaign with defeats by Laragh Utd & Cavan Gaels respectively.  Both qualify for the Shield, but those fixtures have not yet been finalized.

The Girls U-12s & Boys U-10s continue training at 11.30am on Sunday mornings.  The 10’s will be hoping to get a few challenges in over the next two weeks as they plan for the big Newry Blitz that takes place on Saturday 6th June.

The U-8’s  continue training at 5.30pm on Wednesday evenings.
