SENIORS

Kingscourt continued their great form with a comfortable victory over Kill in O’Raghallaigh Park last Saturday evening.  0-5 to 0-0 up after the first quarter, the game was never really in doubt and we led 0-9 to 0-1 at halftime with Darragh Gunne popping over some delightful scores.

An early second half goal from Barry Tully sealed things and then the management  had the luxury of giving their subs a run out in the final quarter.  Next up is Cavan Gaels at home at 4pm next Saturday, and you can be sure that it will be a strong Gaels side that makes the trip and we will need to continue the good form to keep their promotion push on line

JUNIORS

There was a blanket cancellation of all Division 4 matches at the weekend. The Juniors next outing will be at home to Gowna at 2pm on Sunday 31st May.

JUVENILE

Kingscourt’s 100% record in this year’s U-16 League is still going after their fifth win on the spin.  However, it’s not getting any easier as they dug out a narrow victory by 1-7 to 1-5.

Despite playing against the wind, it was the Gaels who lead at half time 1-3 to 0-4. However, like the Gaels, we seemed to relish playing against the conditions in the second half and held the home side to just 0-2 while we chalked up 1-3 to get the two point victory.

A great team performance all round and all the team played well. Any day you go to Terry Coyle Park and come away with a win is a good day.  Next up is a home match against Bailieboro on Tuesday 19th at 7.30pm.  Well worth taking in if you are about.

Neither the U-14’s or the U-12’s played last week.  Both have their final league matches this week, with the 14’s at home to Laragh Utd at 7.30pm on Thursday 21st and the 12’s home to Cavan Gaels at 7.30pm on Monday 18th.

The Girls U-12s & Boys U-10s continue training at 11.30am on Sunday mornings. The U-8 Boys also continue training at 5.30pm on Wednesday evenings.  However, all training and matches are naturally liable to be called off due to our usual Summer weather.

WEBSITE

The re-designed website is now up and running and proving very popular, with close to 1500 hits in the two weeks that we’ve been live.   Just log onto to kingscourtstars.ie  for all the info on the club.  Each team has their own section and with over 300 pictures there is plenty of see.  There is also a history section with some great old pictures and details of past players and teams.

New features include a large Gallery with pictures from recent matches and a “You Tube” style Stars TV, which features footage from old Kingscourt, Cavan and general GAA matches.

A huge thank you to Pat Connolly for all his efforts in the re-design of the site.  If anyone has any suggestions for the site or even better is willing to help out either updating it or taking pictures for the site from any Kingscourt matches (at all levels), please e-mail us kingscourt.stars@hotmail.com or ring Niall on 086-8237382.

CONDOLENCES

The Club wish to pass our condolences on to the Harney family after Tom Harney passed away last week.  Tom moved to Kingscourt in 1989 and he quickly became an integral part of the club, particularly at juvenile level. Tom was a selector on the U-14 Feile team that won the All-Ireland in 1994, the only national success in the club’s history.  In recent years, due to Tom’s illness, he was unable to have the same involvement with the club, but he still kept a keen interest in all results. Our prayers are with his wife Muriel, and his children, Rebecca, Aidan, Liz & Conor.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
