SENIORS

The Seniors maintained their unbeaten run with a fantastic 1-14 to 0-9 victory in Knockbride last Saturday evening. On a beautiful evening between the top two in the division the conditions were perfect and despite Knockbride opening well once Anthony Corcoran found the net to put us 1-2 to 0-4 ahead, the side never looked back.  Some superb scores right through the team gave us a 1-5 to 0-6 halftime lead.

If the first half had been good, the second half reached even greater heights with the defence showing an unbreakable resolve and the forwards playing some superb ball and knocking over scores from every angle.  Wouldn’t want to forget the midfield lads, who ran themselves into the ground.  Just to top things of, a last minute penalty save from Cathal McCabe ensured that everyone played a starring role in the victory.

There is no doubt that the team have a bounce in their step now, however they face another tough tie this Saturday when they face Drumlane down the park at 6.30pm.  Having managed two tights wins over Drumlane in the past two years, the side will know that another tough battle will be on the cards.  However, if the same attitude continues to be shown, then hopefully come 8pm on Saturday evening, we will remain top of Division Two.

JUNIORS

Not wanting to be outdone by the Seniors, the Juniors sit top of Division Four after a 1-8 to 0-7 victory in Maghera continued their 100% start to the season. The increased competition for places on the Senior team has had a knock on effect to the performances of the Junior side and this has been clear in the performances and results so far.

Next up, is a home match against Cuchullains on Sunday at 2pm.

MINORS

The Minors rounded of the league campaign with their second successive defeat in a very disappointing performance against Cavan Gaels, with the Gaels running out comfortable eight point winners.  Despite a promising start to the season,  the side have endured a poor couple of weeks and will need to re-group and but in some hard training ahead of the league semi-final.

In the semi-final they will face Ballyhaise, with date & venue yet to be confirmed.  However, there will need to be a considerable improvement all round if they are to claim a final spot.

JUVENILE

The 12’s face an away match against Castlerahan at 7.30pm on Monday 20th, with a trip to Castletara the following Monday

The 14’s will hope to gain their first victory of the season when they visit Bailieboro on Thursday 23rd before hosting Ramor  on Thursday week.

Finally, the 16’are next up with an away match against Ballyhaise  at 7.30pm this evening (Tuesday 21st) . Having won the opening two matches the players are putting in great effort this season.  Not to be outdone, the management are similarly dedicated and even arranged a trial run to Ballyhaise last weekend so that nothing is left to chance ahead of this week’s game.  With management like that, it’s no wonder the team is going so well, Great planning lads  🙂 (Oops, sorry, about that. Always read the small print!)

The 10’s continues at 11.30pm on Sunday mornings down the park.  New members are most welcome.

The U-8’s training is starting Wednesday 29th April from 5.30 – 7.00pm.

The girls training also continues on Sunday mornings at 11.30pm for 7-12 year olds.
