PARADE

It may be unusual to lead of with the Parade, but it was such a success that we really need to thank everyone for their help.  To the small band of people who organised the build up (ye know who ye are),  a huge thanks.  Also, to Trisha Cullen for her time & effort in preparing the float.  Thanks also to Robbie's, Londis, Mace & Hanratty's who kindly donated sweets for the float, and finally to all those who assisted on the day, especially the large selection of players both juveniles and seniors

It was a tremendous success and all the above played a part in the club winning the prize for the best club/organisation float on the day.  There are hopefully some pictures in the local papers of the float and once the website is back up and running, there will be any amount of pictures and video footage.  Thanks again to everyone involved.

JUNIORS

Thr Juniors made it two out of two with a well-deserved 1-14 to 2-6 victory over Mullahoran last Friday night.  In conditions more akin to a horror movie, both sides played some entertaining football despite the the fog descending on the pitch as the second half progressed.  Kingscourt had the upper hand in the first half but two terrific long range scores from the visitors left Kingscourt just 0-6 to 0-4 ahead at halftime.

Kingscourt caught a break early in the second half when a long range free from Sean Og Gargan dropped short but squirmed thru the keepers hands and into the net.  Kingscourt then surged clear and super scores from Sean Og & Daryl Martin but Kingscourt 1-9 to 0-6 clear with 15 minutes left and seemingly in control

However, a penalty gave Mullahoran hope and then when they managed to flick home another goal as a free dropped short, all of a sudden the visitors were only a point behind at 1-10 to 2-6 with less than five minutes remaining.

However urged on by a strong bench, Kingscourt responded with great character and some further great scores by Sean Og Gargan and someone else (well we were wearing white jerseys and it was foggy, give me a break!)  left Kingscourt five points clear at the end.

The Juniors now have a break while focus turns to the Seniors for a few weeks and the Juniors next run out will be a trip to Maghera on Sunday 19th April at 2pm

SENIORS

The Seniors will resume their league campaign with a home tie against Ballyhaise on Friday evening at 7.45pm.  Hopes will be high after their opening two victories but Ballyhaise emerged victorious on their last visit to Kingscourt two years back so another hard-working performance will be required to gain the points.

With the club enjoying a good run of success at all levels at the moment, everyone will be eager to maintain this momentum.  The players are showing their effort and dedication, so we ask supporters to do the same.  If you are coming to the match, don't come alone, drag someone with you, you never know they might even enjoy it!

WEBSITE

As mentioned, the  club website (www.kingscourtstars.ie) is currently under construction at the moment.  We are giving it a complete facelift and on it’s return it will hopefully be a lot more impressive and user-friendly.  If anyone has any suggestions for possible items of inclusion, please e-mail us at kingscourt.stars@hotmail.com.

JUVENILE

The juvenile leagues start next week.  The 12’s open with a visit to Ramor on Monday 30th.  The 14’s start with a trip to Castlerahan on Thurs 2nd and the 16’s visit in St. Joseph’s on Tuesday 31st.  Good luck to all the players and management teams involved.

MINORS

There's a little break for the minors at the moment with their next game not until they meet Cavan Gaels on Easter Monday.  In the meantime the County Minors take centre stage.  Both Barry Reilly and Thomas Rogers were involved in Cavan's opening defeat to Meath in the Ulster League last weekend.  Next up is a game against Dublin which takes place on Saturday 28th in the park.  This should definitely be a game worth checking out.
