KINGSCOURT STARS GAA CLUB NOTES

SENIORS:

As training continues after the disappointment of the recent championship defeat, focus now turns on the remaining three league matches, which rank as important as the championship, as we seek to remain in Division 1 for 2008.  The Seniors are away to fellow strugglers, Drumlane, at 12 noon on Saturday 29th.  As the players continue to train hard for these matches, a similar effort is required by supporters to make the journey to support the team.  While acknowledging that it’s hardly an ideal time, all efforts should be made by those who can attend, to make the trip fort his crucial match.

MINORS:

On Saturday, the Minors met Cavan Gaels in the semi-final of the championship in Cootehill. With the Gaels’s perennial strength at this level this was always going to be a tough encounter.  Our lads started well but were soon under pressure and trailed 1-8 to 0-2 at halftime.  They didn’t let the heads drop and an early Gerry O’Sullivan goal gave renewed hope, but the Gaels continued to impose themselves on things and ended up comfortable winners in the end.  While the likes of Barry Tully, Ciaran Smith & Joseph Farrelly worked tirelessly for the jersey, Kingscourt just came up against a highly impressive Gaels side on the day.

U-16’s

The final championship to get under way this year will see the U-16’s enter the fray at the Quarter Final stage.  On 6th October they are away to Lurgan at 12 noon.  Best of luck to all involved in the final hope of some championship honours in 2007.
