ALL IRELAND GOLD MEDAL FOR AISLING:
Congratulations and well done to Aisling Mahony, Tullig, Kilflynn and her Lios Tuathail Athletics team mates of Ciara Donegen, Sophie Lynch, Alex Dowling and Niamh Cullen who won a gold medal in the 4×100 girls u13 relay, with their impressive time of 56.36 in the All Ireland indoor final in Nenagh on Sunday. And a big thanks to Margaret O Neill, Brendan Cullen and Denis Lynch for training the  Lios Tuathail Athletics Team.
CONFIRMATION

CROTTA CLUB PLAN:
Calling all GAA people: On Friday Night 8th April, The Crotta Hurling Club will hold a Club Plan Workshop evening. It will be held in St. Theresa’s N.S at 8.15p.m. The workshop is open to anyone in the community who has an interest in GAA and would like to participate in mapping out the next 5 years of the development of Crotta GAA. All welcome to attend.
KERRY HURLERS:
The Kerry Senior Hurling team was defeated by Limerick in the Allianz NHL Division 2, Round 6. on a score line of 1-24 to 1-09 on Sunday 3rd April in Killmallock. The Crotta hurling was represented by Shane Nolan at wing forward on the Kerry team scoring two points. Kerry played well and now have a weeks break before they play Laois at home on Sunday 17th April .  
CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS:
Herbert’s Bar was the venue for the  Crotta hurling club weekly lottery draw with a Jackpot of €15,600. The four numbers picked out of the drum by Independent Observer:  John Byrne, Prims Restaurant, Kilflynn  were: 4,5,8 and 21 on Monday 4th April. However Once again no one came up with the correct combination of numbers and the BIG Jackpot  survived for another week. The Lucky dip prizes winner each receives €35: Francis Sheehy, Clandouglas, Lixnaw , Ed Dowling, Marian Park Ballyheigue, Liam Howard, Leith west, Tralee and The Three Counties Irish Pub in Chicago. ABBEYDORNEY GOLF SOCIETY:
The Society will hold their first outing of the year at Castleisland Golf Club, on next Saturday 9th April with the tee being reserved from 11:30 to 1:00. This is a singles outing and a large turnout is expected with new members very welcome. Golf Club members can also play in the Open Singles that day so please bring your Golfnet Card. ABBEYDORNEY/KILFLYNN COMMUNITY GAMES:
Community Games: Congratulations to the Abbeydorney/Kilflynn team who finished 5th in the county quiz final on Friday night. This was a great achievement as only one point seperated the teams in 3rd, 4th and 5th place. Kenmare won the competition with a score of 91 poiints. Well done to Muireann McKenna, Cian McCarthy, T.J.Maunsell, Jeaic McKenna, Eva White, also Bernie Shanahan and Mary Brassil.
U-12 Boys Soccer: We would like to wish our u-12 boys the best of luck next Sunday as the take part in the soccer competition in Mastergeeha F.C. We would like to thank Jason Dowling, their trainer and Eileen O’Connor for all her help. We hope everyone has a very enjoyable day. Swimming: This competition takes place on Sunday April 17th. St Patrick Day Parade
The organizers of the  Kilflynn  St Patrick’s Day Parade 2011 say this years parade was one of the best yet.  Over Eighty  groups and organisations took part in the parade which began at 4.00 p.m. from St Theresa’s National School led by This years  Grand Marshall Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dick Spring, in  Bosco Mahon’s donkey and cart  and followed by St Patrick (Michael Murphy Dromakee) where an estimated 1,500 people lined the route cheering and applauding the participants as they passed by in a colourful pageant of music, drama, comedy and song.
The Parade and Fancy Dress Parade which was held in ideal weather conditions,  made its way to the reviewing stand in the centre of the village where local dignitaries Dan McCarthy (Crotta Hurling Club), John Brennan (Kilflynn Vinatge Club) Pat Herbert (Kilflynn Coursing Club) Tom Mc Elligott (Kilflynn Development Area Association) and Dick Spring were casting their eyes over the groups who participated. MC Michael Neenan delivered a witty running commentary on the participants, some of these were seen to breathe a sigh of relief when they weren’t the target of the jovial Kilflynn St. Patrick’s  Day Parade Chairman.
The parade continued down to the bridge before returning to St. Columbas Centre, for the judging and presentation of prizes in the Fancy dress competitions.
The organizing committee would like to thank all who helped out before, during and after the parade  to make sure we had a successful and incident free event
Thanks to the Gardaí including Garda Jason Harte, Abbeydorney and the stewards who help kept traffic flowing ,thanks to Mc Elligott’s sound systems for the amplification, and special thanks to all who contributed to the bucket collection  and Annette Nolan Kate Caffrey who collected on the day.

FANCY DRESS
A record entry of 120 children participated in this year’s Kilflynn St. Patrick’s Day, Fancy dress competition, on Thursday 17th March with judging taking part after the parade in St Columbas Centre, Kilflynn under the watchful of our three judges Mary Geraldine Finucane, Aisling Weir and Maureen McElligott  who do a wonderful job. The committee would like to thank Herbert’s bar, Parker’s Pub,  Prims Restaurant and Byrnes Gala Shop, Kilflynn who kindly  sponsored the fancy dress competition, also a big thank you to Maria O’Connell and her helpers who did Trojan work in organizing the competition and the excellent judges, And special thanks to all those who help out in the It was much appreciated.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG
Crotta underage hurlers played Ardfert at U12 and U14 level over the weekend. Our U12 team held out for a one point win while our U14 team were beaten by a goal. Our U12 team played with the aid of a gale force wind and led at half time by 2-09 to 1-01. Barry Mahony and Adam O’Sullivan scored the goals and also added points plus a great point by Sean Murnane gave Crotta a commanding lead. Ardfert turned things around in the second half and at the end Crotta hung on to win by the smallest of margins. Brian O’Connell was outstanding throughout and was ably assisted by Barry Mahony. Sean Galvin, Donal Hunt and Adam O’Sullivan had their moments. Final score Crotta 2-09 Ardfert 3-05. Our U14 team played on Sunday last and although playing with the strong breeze in the first half, they trailed Ardfert by four points. A much improved second half performance into the elements saw Crotta outscore their opponents by one point. Colin Browne had a great game for Crotta and Adrian Mahony(second half)Sean O’Donoghue, Cathal Keane Darragh Kennelly David Behan Gearoid Galvin gave their all. Well done to Ashling Mahony(daughter to U14 coach Denis and Arlene) who won a gold medal as part of the Listowel Athletics Club in the All Ireland Final U13 relay competition.

Well done to the Finuge CCE members, TJ Cosgrove, Thomas Healy and Olivia Stack, who took part in the sult na nog competitions which were held in the IT tralee on saturday. They all did us proud on the day. Olivia came 2nd in the amhrain gaeilge under 10 and Thomas came 2nd in the banjo under 10. It was a great achievement for our young members! We are hosting an informal seisiun next Sunday 10th April at McCarthy’s in Finuge. Everyone is welcome to come along and join the music song and dance! It starts at 4pm until 6pm but the music could continue long after that!
Maurice Collins Memorial Vintage Day Ardfert.
On Sunday 10th April 2011, the annual Maurice Collins Memorial Vintage Day takes place on the land of Gerard Mc Carthy,Banna West Ardfert Co Kerry. This is the fourth Memorial Day in honour of Maurice and it has gone from strength to strength ever since thanks to hard working committee and all the stewards who help in every way. We would also like to thank our sponsors who have contributed over the past number of years.
The events taken place on the day include Country Stalls, Terrier Racing,Fancy dress dog show, Bouncing Castle, Puppet Show, Face Painting, Music and Dancing, Tractor Dismantling, Tractor tasks by Kilmoyley Macra and a large selection of vintage machinery, Tractors and Cars. There will also be prizes for the best dressed vintage attire male and female, plus a large raffle on the day.
Proceeds of this years event goes to The Kerry Parents and Friends Association. All events commence at 10am until 5pm so everyone is welcome to come along on the day and have fun.
DRAMA:
Women on the Verge of HRT By Marie Jones. Performed by Abbeydorney Drama Group the hilarious comedy about two friends that travel to Donegal to the concert of their idol Daniel O’Donnell, The play will take place in Abbeydorney Community Hall Centre on  Wednesday 6th and Friday  8th April at 8.30pm. There they have a real heart to heart on various aspects of their lives, mainly their love lives. neither woman is handling their marriages well or the fact that they are heading towards the menopause.
The two women Vera played by Jean O’Connell and Anna played by Rose Dowling are helped by Fergal the waiter add the banshee to comfort their partners, this takes place in a beach in Donegal. A lot of Laugh and surprises takes place along the way. Also in the cast will be Mossie Leahy, Brendan OHalloran, Imelda Roche, John Breen, and Joanne Conlon.

Kilflynn National School Parents Association are holding a Fun Table Quiz in Parker’s Pub And Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Thursday night 21st  April at 9.30p.m. The support of the parents and local community would be appreciated
CAMOGIE:
The Kerry U16’s played round 5 of this championship against Kildare at the Hawfield Centre of Excellence in Newbridge. Kerry started the brighter with a goal from Cora Carroll. However Kildare found their feet and were 1-1 to the good after 20 mins. Half time Kerry 1-0 Kildare 2-2. Kerry again started the second half better with a goal from Alannah Maunsell inside five minutes. Kildare went on the attack and scored 5 points without response. Alannah Maunsell began to find her range and scored 2 superb points from wing forward. This was followed up by a goal from a placed ball by Patrice Diggin. Another goal by Kildare saw them edge in front again. Two more points from Patrice Diggin, only 1 minute left, Alannah Maunsell was switched to full forward and pulled on low ball to the back of the net. Final result Kerry 4-4 Kilare 3-7. A draw seemed a fair result as the match could have gone either way. That completes Kerry’s involvement in this competition. Well done girls on the first Inter County team in many years. To Pete, Kieran and David thanks for all your time and commitment to the team. The County Minors soon be advised of training with the first match the end of June.

CROTTA COISTE  NA NOG A.G.M
The Crotta Coiste na nOg Annual General Meeting was held take on Thursday March 10th in St Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. There was a large attendance present. Chairman Sonny Egan presided and said that 2010was a very successful year at under age level and thanked all coaches, parents and players for their tremendous efforts during the year,  
and he thanked all those who expended so much time and energy in coaching and training the young players. The following officers were elected for 2011:

POKER CLASSIC:
Poker Classic in aid of Kerry Comogie  Board will be held in McElligot’s Bar Abbeydorney on Sunday 1st May. €1000 in prizes with a €30 entry fee. Your support would be greatly appreciated to raise much needed funds to support the development of the game in the County.
SENIORS:
The Crotta Senior hurlers  had a 6 point victory over Kilmoyley  in the North Kerry hurling league on Friday 2nd April   in Ballyduff  on a score of 2-12 to 1-09.  Crotta scorers  were Sean Weir were 0-07, Shane McAuliffe 2-00, Ian McCarthy 0-04 and Richard Nolan 0-01.
